I am thrilled to share a big announcement from Sparx Hockey. If you're a fan of ice hockey, names like Lidstrom, Forsberg, Sundin, and Zetterberg are synonymous with greatness in our sport. As a player and fan, I grew up watching these Swedish-born players and know that they are some of the best skaters our sport has ever seen. Without question - the Swedes know ice hockey and fully appreciate the need to have the very best sharpening equipment when maintaining skate blades.   Many people don't know this, but a European rink is actually 16% wider (15 feet) than an NHL rink. This tends to make games in Europe have a bit more skating, and less hitting, than games in the NHL as the players have more room on the ice. This also tends to give Swedish-born and raised players a bit of an edge when it comes to skating as it's a bigger part of their game. Another fun fact, European players on average prefer less edge on their skate blades (a shallower hollow) to North American players as a shallower hollow produces less friction and more glide for a hockey skate blade on ice. The emphasis on skating in Sweden, and thus on maximizing every advantage when it comes to skating performance, is a perfect match for everything we do here at Sparx.   I am beyond excited to begin a long relationship with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to bring them cutting edge technology for skate sharpening. Furthermore, for those that know us here at Sparx, we NEVER stop innovating and we're pumped to also bring Sweden into the process of developing more revolutionary sharpening tech over the next few years. It is play off season and Sportway’s ice hockey services are providing more live content than ever. This weekend more than 2000 live ice hockey games were provided to consumers on Sportway’s various play sites across Europe. Finland only had 900 live games with 100 000 views. Live commentary is growing in Sweden and Finland and the services in Belgium and Italy have opened up for the new functionality “follow your player”. Players are automatically tagged and you may chose the ones you would like to follow.
