The HISD bond for $4.4 billion failed this past election. Can it ever pass one under the administration of Superintendent Mike Miles during the state takeover? Blake Heller and I weigh in on why we think the bond failed and how Miles and his team might be able to get one passed in May. The high level takeaway: 1) Instead of maligning voters, focus on giving them high quality information about how new reforms have improved student achievement and connect this to a long term vision of success. 2) Communication must be a two-way street. The community needs meaningful opportunities to share their cares and concerns, and then see HISD leadership address them. Where trust is lacking (and it is), it is the responsibility of our leaders to rebuild it. https://lnkd.in/gYdKuDvh #statetakeover #educationpolitics #government #HISD #Texas #Houston

In an era where education funding plays a critical role in shaping the future of our children, it's alarming to see the stark differences in spending between school districts.
