How innovative is your PRM? Very? Not so much? And what about the roadmap? It feels like everyone is talking about AI these days—my 80-year-old next-door neighbour was asking me about ChatGPT and what I think of it! I was impressed. It shows just how pervasive AI has become. We even brainstormed a fun use case: an AI that warns you when your fridge is about to break down, so you can save your food. Although, that might be bad news for fridge manufacturers—but that’s a story for another day. So, what AI components does your PRM have? None? Are they coming soon? Shouldn't they be? At Magentrix, we pride ourselves on being one of, if not the most innovative PRM on the market today. Want to know why? I think it’s obvious—if you’re in technology and not actively innovating, maybe you're in the wrong business. Or maybe you're just starting out and don’t have the budget, which is understandable. But if that’s not the case, what’s your excuse? Worried about the bottom line? Fair enough. But with that mindset, long-term success will be hard to achieve. That Time My AI Bot Surprised Me As someone immersed in the tech world, I’ve seen AI do incredible things. But there’s one moment that truly stood out, where my AI bot caught me completely off guard. I had been fine-tuning an AI tool for automated email outreach—scraping new e-commerce brands, finding the right contacts, and sending personalized pitches. On paper, it was a flawless system. Then, one day, I pushed it further. I tasked it with crafting a custom message for a specific niche, with a unique tone and style. I expected just another standard outreach. What I got was far more impressive. Not only did the bot nail the tone, but the message was so spot-on, I half-expected a response within minutes. Funny thing is, I created this tool to make my job easier. Instead, it made me question everything I knew about AI. AI is no longer just about automation. Was speaking to a client about if they should use 'AI-enabled' in their customer-facing materials. We recommended against it. Here’s why… I'll preface by saying that in some cases, especially for more enterprise buyers, it might be relevant, but for most software applications today, I don't think customers and users care as much that it's an AI product. Early on, during the first year and a half of building AI tools after chatGPT launched, people were excited about trying out anything labeled as AI—those were the early adopters. We saw incredible growth in our own tools we launched during this period. But for regular consumers, those that are later on the adoption curve, I don't think they will care if it's AI-enabled; they just care that it solves their problem. What we recommended to the client was, instead of saying, "this is an AI-powered application for X," focus on the main value propositions. Go back to the basics. Answer questions like: 1.) Will this save you money? 2.) Will this save you time? 3.) Will this make you money? 4.) Will this make you more productive? These are the points that should resonate in your copy to users. This pattern has happened before over the past 30 years: first, there were web companies, then mobile-first companies, then cloud companies, and now AI companies. Today when building a business you assume you’re using all of these technologies. LinkedIn for example is a professional network. It’s not a mobile, online, cloud, AI company. I mean, it is all of these things behind the scenes, but for a member they just care that’s solving their problems. Framing “new tech for x” serves its purpose in the beginning to get early adopters and maybe even investors excited, but for most customers, they may not actually care as much. They just want to know that it solves their problem. What do you think?
