Starting a 60-Day Marketing & Partnerships Adventure For almost a decade, I’ve been using analytics to optimize content for educators and creatives. 🤓 Today, plot twist. I’m on the other side of the table, too. This time, I’m the creative. I made the content — an ‘#edutainment' musical about the climate impact of #AI 🌞🤖 It was selected for the Spark Theatre Festival in NYC this fall. But the creatives pay for the value of unfilled seats. We have exactly 60 days to fill 90 seats. 😅 https://lnkd.in/gQEe9xKW The odds seem stacked against us. Neither my co-writer Laurence Warner nor I have lived in New York. We’ve won awards for our short film, but are complete newcomers to writing #musicaltheatre. No fan base in the city. Yet. And the show’s slot falls on a weekday. In the afternoon. But you know what? The test of fire makes steel. I’m in it to win it. 🤩 ✊ We’ve worked hard to build a quality product. So now we will fill that theatre. Come what may. So join me on this adventure over the next 60 days as I share my learnings - on #strategy, #partnerships, #leadership,#innovation, #creativity, #socialimpact, #mediaoutreach, and yes, #datascience. Let’s turn up the heat, and help turn down the #climatechange! #PanditPosts

As filmmakers, musicians, and creatives we are all part of a marketing pipeline. I think we shouldn't forget this. Thus, we should remember that profit and revenue matter. It helps us grow to reinvest into our brands and the companies we build. It is a tool that can help us expand on our capabilites and craft. This is an important thing that you and I should remember. As growing professionals sometimes I feel we can fall short on this. It's OK. However, we need to be more focused on the goal and remember that finances are critical to us flourishing. #musicians #musicbusiness #filmmaking #creativea

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬, Perspective is everything when it comes to your audience. Visualize this: 30 streams? That’s a full classroom. 200 streams? You’ve filled a movie theater. 500 streams ? You’re speaking in a packed auditorium. And remember—they’re all choosing to engage with your content. If this were an in-person event, you'd likely feel a bit nervous. So, take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve come and the value you’re offering to your audience. 🎉 #Artists #Takwene #ContentCreators #MusicDistribution

Scott Walters, an esteemed author, professor, and theater historian, has shared groundbreaking ideas in his latest FREE book, "Building a Sustainable Theater." In a thought-provoking interview with HowlRound fellow Munroe Shearer, he delves into strategies for empowering small theater companies to reclaim control over their artistic careers and foster deeper connections with their communities. Here are some key takeaways from their conversation: 1️⃣ Ownership Over Employment: Walters advocates for a model where artists become owners, not mere employees, of theater companies. By owning shares and having a direct stake in profits, artists are empowered to make creative decisions and shape the direction of the theater. 2️⃣ Community-Centric Approach: Smaller theaters can cultivate individual relationships with their communities, offering more personalized and responsive programming. This enables them to stay attuned to cultural shifts and engage audiences in meaningful conversations. 3️⃣ Playwright Commitment: Walters emphasizes the importance of honoring playwrights by committing to produce their work in full, providing them with a platform to engage with audiences and develop their craft. 4️⃣ Mission-Driven Programming: Theaters should establish clear guidelines for the type of shows they produce, aligning with their mission and values. Without boundaries, mission creep can occur, diluting the theater's identity. 5️⃣ Agile Season Planning: Adopting a more flexible approach to season planning allows theaters to respond dynamically to community needs and market conditions, enhancing sustainability and audience engagement. I have to admit to you, I was more surprised than almost anyone I know... Last week I came out of dinner to find I was named to the Broadway Women's Fund 2024 Women to Watch on Broadway list. Primarily for my work creating live Broadway experiences for digital audiences. I'm deeply honored, as their premise is to make visible a more diverse pipeline of humans to invest in. I also think it's a really neat time to have made this list - we've seen a nearly 300% increase in inquiries about theatrical livestreams over last year and it's still Q1! There's definitely more discussion around this in our industry, the market reports show big growth on live streaming YoY and there's even a Newsweek opinion piece on the idea today (I'll drop the link in the comments). After eleven years creating theatrical live broadcasts and streams, over three years creatively planning and budgeting Broadway livestream proposals and this past year taking every opportunity I could get to talk to theatre owners, licensing house CEOs, General Managers, Union and Guild members, Producers, Artistic Directors, Agents - all the folks live streaming will impact - here are the takeaways I hope you have as this discussion continues: 🏋🏽♀️ Live streaming theatre and theatrical events is possible (and profitable!) 🥇 Opening up access to a digital adaptation of the magical feeling we get in the theatre DOES translate to more/new in-person seats sold 💡 Simulcasts of commercial Broadway shows are wildly complicated, for some very good reasons that protect all the artists involved in a Broadway show and their IP. I personally think standardizing that protection for a new medium is going to be the key here and support for that is one of the primary things we're building for 🎯 There's an incredible amount of information and guidance in the data that *live* digital experiences yield - and heads up, the audience informing that data look an awful lot like the folks we are trying to get into IRL theatres around the country. It's going to be an exciting year ahead and I'm awfully proud to be forging new pathways along with the other women on this list!

Hello LinkedIn friends! I have some really exciting news to share about what I’ve been working on for the past year! I won’t bury the lead- In Partnership with Hershey Suri, Nandini Mittal, and Hunter Lustberg, I am so excited to announce our new theater production company: Pop Up! Productions! Details on our first show below. Some of you may know that prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was working to produce two pieces of theater, Rumors by Neil Simon, and Mamma Mia! By Cathrine Johnson. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, neither of these shows came to fruition. Yet, despite the challenges imposed on live performance by social distancing, Hershey Suri and I were determined to produce a show. We spent months ideating, planning, re-planning, and creating a concept for a musical where no two individuals could be in the same physical space. Together with a group of incredibly talented peers, we produced a first-of-its-kind movie: our version of The Addams Family Musical which was filmed, edited, produced, and shared in an environment where no two people could be in the same room. The production was a resounding success, and we ultimately achieved something that broadway could not- an engaging and fully remote musical production. Throughout the project, Hershey and I learned an immense amount about how to produce high-quality performance art. We viewed what we were doing as a proof of concept for a decentralized production company with a highly mobile support network that would enable us to produce community-based, resonant art wherever and whenever the opportunity presented itself. We developed process innovations in directing and producing, and believe that much of what we learned is applicable now that we have returned to a world where people can enjoy performance art together again. For the past year, we have been at the drawing board conceptualizing how we can put what we learned into practice. Thus, Pop Up! Productions was born! Pop Up! Productions is a revolutionary theater company aimed at unifying individuals from all walks of life by providing them with an opportunity to perform on the world’s brightest stages. Our founding members hail from a variety of backgrounds - from law to business, from technology to arts. Each of us are deeply involved in theater in our communities, and we are coming together to put on shows across the United States that are impactful, sustainable, and community-driven. Now onto the important part- what show are we putting up? I am so excited to announce our first show: Next to Normal! Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, Next to Normal was also chosen as "one of the year's ten best shows" by critics around the country. If you would like to support the production of our inaugural show, you can donate here: https://gofund.me/93a162b5 Thank you all, and more exciting updates to come on Pop Up! Productions and other life events soon!

Auditioning for a composer role on a film, TV show, or game? Start with a clear understanding of the director’s vision. Ask for two key resources: conceptual files that reveal their inspirations and soundtracks that serve as style guides. This approach ensures you’re in sync creatively, so you don’t miss the mark with your initial ideas. Establishing clear expectations around musical style and instrumentation in the first meeting can make all the difference. Proactive communication and understanding the director’s preferences are essential for a successful collaboration. #composerlife #videogamecomposer #collaboration #musicbusiness

Rant incoming for a Monday morning… I went to a murder mystery event on Friday, and I came away feeling rather disheartened. The disappointment didn't stem from the actors, the storyline, the production value or even the food. But rather from the behaviour of certain attendees who seemed to relish in heckling and disrespecting the performers. It's moments like these that highlight the importance of fostering a community of theatre lovers who understand and appreciate the boundaries between IMMERSION and INVASION. While the adage 'the more, the merrier' rings true for many events… Its undeniable, the impact a disrespectful audience can have on the overall experience and lasting impressions of a show or production. Theatre is indeed for everyone, but I believe there should be an asterisk attached to that statement. Theatre IS and will always be for everyone. But that inclusion shouldn’t extend to bold faced disrespect or abuse of performers. These people are at work at the end of the day. They may be performers, but they’re not performing monkeys and they certainly shouldn’t be grabbed, groped or interrupted. I get it- no two audiences will ever be the same. But this experience was a reminder that sometimes a production is only ever as good as it’s audience. That’s why I think a network of theatre enthusiasts is such a gift. A good audience can not only enhance the immersive experience of a production for all- but also contribute to the vitality of the theatre industry as a whole. Will this be my last murder mystery? Probably not. But I can’t guarantee the same for the other audience members who were notably as disappointed with the antics as I was 😕 #Theatre #Liveevents #Advertising #Entertainment
