This coming Friday, I'm meeting with Joshua Rayner and the board from Jobs Queensland to add to the conversation about AI and the future of QLD jobs. It's been heartening to see the AI agenda rising to the top of the list of conversations that need to be had at all levels of Government. Dominique Lamb from Queensland Small Business Commissioner recently elevated AI to the Small Business Friendly Conference agenda. I'm working with Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) on a nine-month "Digital Skills Program" throughout the region starting next week. Many of the councils I work with also discuss the impacts of AI. Conversations are one thing (and super important), but collectively, WE must act NOW. Ray Kurzweil continues to argue we're moving closer to the singularity (his new book, by the way, "The Singularity, is Nearer" is a great read) - with his prediction of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) remaining 2029 (Musk, arguing within the next two years) Either way... the time to table discussions, hold sub-committees, collect working groups... Done We need to be educating our communities to use, interact and engage with AI and emerging tech now. That means boots on the ground - business owners together, laptops open playing, implementing and trying new ways of doing business now. Our councils... Departments... Community Sector - all need to be doing the same. If we don't use, implement, and consider reimagining our businesses now, we risk becoming completely irrelevant within five years.
