Justice -What’s the Right Thing to Do? (27) Written by Michael J. Sandel Throw Christians at lions In ancient Rome, Christians were thrown into lions at the Colosseum as entertainment for the common people. Let's imagine how utilitarians' calculations will proceed. Needless to say, when they are torn apart and devoured by lions, Christians suffer unbearable. However, let's think about the sum of the euphoria that the audience is full of applause and shouting. If enough Roman citizens get enough pleasure from this terrible sight, is there any reason why utilitarians can condemn this sight? Utilitarians may be concerned that this entertainment will swell the temperament of the city of Rome and create more violence. Alternatively, there is a possibility that the fear of eventually being thrown out in front of a lion will spread among those who may become victims. If these negative effects are too bad, it may, according to the fact, that it will outperform the pleasure of the show and give utilitarians a reason to ban the show. But if these calculations are the only reason to prohibit Christians from driving them to a miserable death for entertainment, isn't something morally important missing? When we amplify voices that challenge injustice and demand equity, we create opportunities for meaningful change. By bringing marginalized perspectives to light, we raise awareness of systemic issues that might otherwise go unnoticed, fostering greater empathy and a collective drive for action. This not only empowers communities by validating their lived experiences but also creates platforms for leadership and advocacy that address inequities head-on. As allies and advocates join forces, societal norms are questioned, institutions are held accountable, and we begin to dismantle inequitable structures. These efforts drive cultural transformation, allowing inclusivity to thrive and shaping a future where diversity and equity are at the forefront. By amplifying these voices, we lay the foundation for a more just and equitable world, one conversation, and one action at a time. Visit Odyssey Showcase and watch how they are amplifying voices through their anti-racism web series, "Justice on Tap" . https://lnkd.in/gpJqaNSE #antiracism #education #amplifyingvoices #systemicinequalities #resilience

May 10 | Friday | 7:00 PM Adhbuta Ramayana RSVP: https://shorturl.at/cqv15 How many Ramayanas? A hundred, two hundred, three hundred and so on. A.K. Ramanujan, a multilingual scholar, wrote an essay “Three Hundred Ramayanas: Five Examples and Three Thoughts on Translation” which scholarly narrates the existence of many Ramayanas in India and in South Asian countries. This play could be one amongst them, and this production is inspired by this essay. Throughout the Valmiki Ramayana, Sri Rama occupies the central stage as the main character. Many folk versions of Ramayanas (Chitrapata Ramayana, Ravana Chaya etc.) narrate the story of Sita. She occupies the centre stage. In Adbhuta Ramayana, Sita is the protagonist. She is not only a manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi but also the first force of creation known as Prakruti (Nature). Sita is the focus of the story rather than Rama, and it seeks to establish the greatness, courage, valour, strength, power, and potential of Womanhood which are traditionally so cherished. Sri Rama fails to subdue and vanquish Shatakhanta Ravana, who was ten times more powerful than his younger sibling Dashakhanta Ravana. Sita defeats this great demon and restores peace on earth by eliminating the courage of all evil-mongering demons representing vices and perversions. #theatre #puppetshow #leatherpuppet

The decades-long conflict between Arabs and Jews is not just about territory—it’s about identity, history, and deep emotional scars. Any lasting solution requires addressing the core narratives that both sides hold about their own legitimacy, rights, and futures. What remains clear is that continuing on the same path of violence and political stalemate will only perpetuate suffering for both Jews and Arabs. Radical changes are needed, both in the region’s leadership and its international handling. At the heart of these efforts must be a shift away from religious extremism and tribal divisions, toward a future that emphasizes cooperation, shared prosperity, and human dignity for all citizens, regardless of religion. It is a monumental challenge, but not impossible. Incremental progress, supported by international actors and regional powers, could finally break the cycle and offer hope for a peaceful and dynamic Middle East.

Seminarians are not actors...but sometimes they need to be on camera. 🎬 One of our greatest joys is producing videos for vocations offices, dioceses and seminaries to promote the importance and beauty of vocations to the priesthood. This promotional piece was created for the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island, and for this production we put a strong emphasis on authenticity. We filmed on location at various sites around the diocese to give it a local and recognizable feel for the audience who would be watching it. We also strove for authenticity in the people we featured. No one in this piece is an actor. They are all real seminarians, priests, and parishioners. While it takes a little longer to make them feel comfortable and act naturally on camera, the results make the effort worthwhile. 😅 🫵 If you need a video to promote vocations in your diocese or parish, we have extensive experience telling vocations stories on film and producing promotional videos that communicate the joy of the priesthood and the mystery of the Holy Spirit’s call. Get in touch with us to learn more about how we can bring your next video project to life. Link in caption. ⬇️ #vocations #filmmaking #Catholic #Catholicmarketing #videomarketing
