A thickener is used in mining when separating solids from liquids. The clarified liquid overflows, while the settled solids form a concentrated slurry known as thickener underflow. Moving Thickener Underflow can be a challenge for many pumps. The high-solids content, high-viscosity slurry, and abrasive nature cause wear on pump components, decrease flow, reduce efficiency, and can lead to clogged pumps.
