☀ Congratulations to our Managing Director, Valérie Séjourné, on a successful meeting with #Kadri_Simson, EU Energy Commissioner! ☀ It's crucial to highlight the huge contributions Solar Thermal technology can make to the energy transition: Decarbonisation of EU Buildings: With 80% of the energy demand in EU households being heat, Solar Thermal can cover a significant share of this demand. Additionally, hybridisation with heat pumps can further enhance this contribution. Independence from the Electrical Grid: By reducing dependency on the grid, Solar Thermal helps address the significant challenges of updating the electrical infrastructure. Technological Independence: Manufactured within the EU, Solar Thermal technology ensures a secure energy supply, independent of geopolitical factors, while also creating high-quality jobs. We are at a crossroads in our path to energy transition, and we must leverage all available resources. The EU must recognize the potential of Solar Thermal and give it the importance it deserves. #Sustainability #SolarThermal #EU #Decarbonization #EnergyIndependence #GreenJobs #HeatIsHalf

Some of you may know about it but I was born on 24th February...a date which now echoes quite sadly on many people's minds due to the terrible attack of Ukraine by Russia, two years ago. In May 2022, the Commission launched the REPowerEU package, as well as the solar strategy....to gain back controle of its energy supplies and giving very strong support to a number of renewable energy technologies. This was followed by additional measures announced yesterday to further accelerate the pace of development of renewables (RES), through easier permitting, acceleration areas, involvement of civil society to reach the 42,5 % share of RES by 2030. Today, all the RES sectors were invited to share their insights on these last 2 years, and perspectives with the Commission, DG energy. I was glad to have the opportunity to portray to Commissioner Kadri Simson and her team how the #solarheat sector can contribute, how it already helps saves 2.6bcm of gas but also how more visible and supported it needs to be to properly play its fair share towards a sustainable and decarbonised energy mix for Europe. Because we need ALL technologies to achieve climate neutrality. For an affordable heat for citizens, and industries and for our many SMEs manufacturing solar heat collectors in Europe and exporting worldwide who stand ready to triple their business. 🌍 Earth Day 🌏 Today is a day we recognise the challenges faced by the environment we live in, and what we can do to protect it. At Noriker Power we recognise that problem every day, and like to think that we are having an impact on the steps we need to take to reach Net Zero. 🔋 From our up and running 300MW of battery energy storage, to the 2GW we have in the pipeline, we are committed to developing battery storage, and increasing the mix of renewable energy used by the National Grid. ⚡ Our Konik mobile battery unit means that even when you’re off grid, you don’t need to fall back to fossil fuel powered generators. We can keep you up and running at a fraction of the environmental impact. No matter which direction we go as a company, the fight against the climate crisis is at the heart of what we do. Thank you to all those who have arranged Earth Day events, and to those increasing awareness by participating in them! #earthday #renewable #bess #renewableenergy #energy

"DNI" stands for Direct Normal Irradiation (See picture below for map of Europe). It refers to the amount of sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface directly from the sun when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. In simpler terms, it's the sunlight that hits the ground without being blocked or scattered by clouds or other atmospheric particles. #Spain is considered one of the best countries in Europe in terms of DNI because it receives a lot of direct sunlight throughout the year. This makes it an ideal location for generating solar energy. So, Spain's high DNI means it has great potential for solar heat generation for industrial processes. This has the potential to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and improve the general climate/environment. #sustainability #sostenibilidad #renovables #renewables #industrialheat #vapor #steam

Let's start at Zero. The annual conference held by Miljøstiftelsen ZERO in Oslo is fast approaching, and we eagerly anticipate Sarah Brown's deep dive into Ember's European Electricity Review 2024. As a company dedicated to accelerating the energy transition, we are keenly aware of the significant progress highlighted by Ember regarding Europe's shift from fossil fuels to clean electricity. This includes: 🛢️19%: A record decline in fossil fuel generation and CO2 emissions. 🌱44%: A record share of renewables in the EU electricity mix, surpassing 40% for the first time. 🌬️55 TWh: A record annual growth in wind generation, which has now exceeded gas for the first time. At this year's conference, we are excited to showcase our prismatic battery cell and to connect with industry peers over insightful conversations. 🔗Check this link for the full program: https://lnkd.in/dGwaiE85 Pål Brun, Benedikte Wrålsen and Oda Marie Ellefsen will be there. 🌞 Let's explore the phenomenon of solar eclipses in the context of renewable energy. When the Moon positions itself between Earth and the Sun, it presents an intriguing alignment with practical implications. 🌕 Imagine the Moon's shadow passing over the Sun, causing periods of darkness or the well-known "ring of fire" effect. During these moments, solar panels may experience a reduction in energy output. ⚡️For those interested in energy, this presents an interesting challenge. In order to maintain a consistent power supply during these natural occurrences, grids must quickly adapt by increasing reliance on alternative energy sources such as natural gas or hydropower. 🌎 The successful handling of the 2017 eclipse by the US grid showcased the importance of meticulous planning and backup strategies. Solar eclipses underscore the significance of flexible energy grids and the continuous pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. Let's continue to innovate and emphasize the importance of renewable energy, regardless of celestial events. #SolarEclipse #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #SolarPower #JoinAAEA #EnergyResilience #EnergyEfficiency #SolarEclipse2024 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/epYKSM7M

While other EU countries rapidly pursue solutions to reduce reliance on fossil gas, Romania seems to be investing in major gas projects, thanks to EU funds, by planning the construction and activation of several gas-fired power plants. The strategy appears to be smooth on paper, but in reality, Romania’s economic conditions and its inability to quickly implement the projects threaten to slow down Europe’s energy transition. Raluca Petcu of CEE Bankwatch Network points out: “The companies behind these new projects claim their power plants are ‘hydrogen-ready’. […] While they claim to eventually transition to 100 per cent renewable hydrogen, the economic realities point to a far less appealing future”. We often talk about Cyprus's energy isolation, yet the reality surprises us for a simple reason: we have the strongest energy source -the sun. Instead of importing energy, we can harness solar power for free almost every day of the year. It's time to shift towards solar electricity generation and move away from our outdated choices towards a sustainable future. The excuse that renewable energy depends on weather conditions is no longer valid. With economically viable and ecological storage solutions now available, we have the opportunity to become self-sufficient and reduce our reliance on external energy sources. Envision a Cyprus powered by the sun: energy costs will decrease, and the quality of life will improve significantly. This transition requires courage, vision, and passion. By creating such a sustainable environment, we can attract investors who value not only economic indicators but also ESG criteria, enhancing a company's value and opportunities in global stock markets. Let's embrace the potential of solar energy, paving the way for a brighter, greener future for Cyprus. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #SolarPower #Cyprus #ESGInvesting EnergyIntel EnergyEvolved
