One of the furthest throwbacks you'll ever see from us 😜
Did you know Laura and Sam, founders of Popcorn Shed, are cousins and have been close since they were very(!) young?
Who'd have thought that these two would end up starting a gourmet popcorn business together to fulfil their foodie dreams? 😍

A quick spot of research if you don't mind partaking..
Pondering future business ventures.. More specifically, opening a quirky temperance tapas bar in Lincoln..
I'm thinking a full range of non alcoholic drinks, mocktails, beers etc. Paired with yummy plantbased tapas and pop up supper club events 🌱
EVERYTHING tells me this is a gap that isn't being filled 🤔🤔

The Illinois Film Production Tax Credit Incentive, now in its 20th year, has become a model for new revenue and job creation with extended benefits for our state's vendors, tourism, hotels, and restaurants.
As I wrote in my Chicago Tribune op-ed, for two decades, the tax credit has been a key factor in Illinois landing major productions. The incentive, championed and extended through 2033 by Gov. JB Pritzker, offers tax credits for local labor and production expenditures.
The Illinois Film Production Tax Credit has resulted in a $6.81 return on investment for every dollar spent on the incentive -- $3.6 billion in economic activity between FY17 and FY22. 94 percent of Illinois’ current film industry economic impact is attributed to the impact of the tax credit.
Add to that the extended benefits of activity like visits to restaurants featured in movies, television and series such as "The Bear". Since Season 3 started streaming, Chicago restaurant locations have benefitted from higher traffic and business. That's a sales tax boost to the City.

Granola Bowl Effect 🍚
People only see the simplicity of an offer on the outside but what they don’t see is what that’s made of, the effort, the energy and the resilience that’s required to create and grow.
As I sit in the beautifully designed Elio cafe in Mailbox, Birmingham. Now as a customer I’ve just sat here, ordered and paid for a granola bowl but let’s look at the process of how this granola bowl got here. Something so simple yet so much effort was required.
So first there was an idea by an individual to open the cafe, he had to negotiate the rent and then spend money on the fit out and the design, he had to trial and error the menu which required staff and training.
The blueberries came from Chile, Poland or France where someone was picking them out, packaging, selling and transporting them.
The granola arrived from food manufactures, the bananas from Africa and the peanut butter from Manchester and the yogurt from UK or Europe.
The list goes on but when speaking to business owners try and understand the struggle they face, it’s hard to sometimes acknowledge the amount of things that go on behind the scenes to present a beautifully presented offering.
And from a different perspective as business owners it’s easy to look at the finish line of our business journeys but it’s time we acknowledge and look after the ingredients that make it so amazing.

🍕 Making homemade pizza is a lot like growing a business. It all starts with the basics – the dough. You mix the right ingredients, let it rise but the dough doesn't rise on its own; it needs the right conditions and sometimes a helping hand to knead it into shape.
The same goes for a business; growth requires time, dedication, and, most importantly, support from others. We rely on the input and expertise of our team, mentors, coaches and community to help fire us up, lift our capability. Each step takes time, care, and passion.
Just like the perfect homemade pizza, a thriving business is the result of patience, collaboration, and a lot of love, it requires dedication, vision, and hard work. Success isn't instant, but the result is oh-so-rewarding.
Join me as I take you through the delicious journey of making pizza from scratch. Because nothing beats the taste of something crafted with love and care – in business and in life. 🍕✨

EP 132: “Hops and Hardships” – Mike & Blaine by Blaine Bertsch
It was a good run. After almost two decades of growth and an explosion of crazy-good flavors, the craft brewing business is in decline. How could that be? You would think the beer snobs would revolt or come to their favorite brewers' rescue, but that hasn’t happened yet. In this episode, Mike and Blaine speak […]

Here's something I've learned from working in this industry...
It’s not just about what’s in the glass, it’s about the people you share it with. Whether it’s at a local taproom or a neighborhood pub, craft beer has a way of bringing people together and creating community.
That is what matters most. Selling beer is one thing, but being part of something bigger...connecting with people, building relationships...that’s the real reward.
If you’re supporting local, know that you’re helping create more than just a sale. You’re helping build a stronger community and we can all cheer to that! 🍻

Craft beer isn’t just about flavor; it’s about community and connection. When you enjoy a pint from your local brewery, you're supporting more than just a business, you’re helping foster a place where people gather, share stories, and create memories.
At Backswing Brewing, we’re proud to be part of that tradition. Every beer we brew is made with care, not just for the craft, but for the people who share it with us. Cheers to good times, great company, and a stronger community. 🍺
Stop by, grab a pint, and let’s raise a glass to what really matters.
