🌟 Hands-On Learning in Action! 🌟 Recently, a Harwood Union High School student got a firsthand look at the world of heavy-civil construction while job shadowing at Kingsbury Companies! 🚜 From observing the installation of underground utilities to learning about the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, this experience offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the skills and dedication required to excel as an excavation operator. The student walked away with valuable insights into technical expertise, safety standards, and the precision needed to thrive in this field. This unique opportunity was made possible through Harwood Union’s Next Step Program, which connects students with local businesses to explore career pathways while earning credit toward graduation. Programs like these empower students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications, uncovering careers that align with their passions and goals. Here at Kingsbury, we proudly support initiatives like the Next Step Program. By working together, we’re inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals and highlighting the foundational role they play in shaping our communities and infrastructure. 🌎 #FutureBuilders #CareerExploration #StudentSuccess #KingsburyCompanies #ConstructionCareers

What's the answer to the lack of workforce in new construction? Construction has been faced with a dwindling workforce as older workers retire, and parents across the US have convinced their kids that a white collar job equals success. As kids who are strapped with staggering college debt will attest, maybe it's not worth it. One group in Minneapolis that is tackling the answer is Lake St Works. Lake Street Works is a 12-month after-school workforce development program for 12th grade men & women of color from the lowest income communities of Minneapolis. We prepare students for: 1. Full-time employment with one of our many construction industry partners. 2. Paid pre-apprenticeship enrollment. 3. Post-secondary education, technical training, & certification. Jess Coykendall, Program director explains in this video what Lake St Works is about, and how they can change both lives and the industry. #LakeStreetWorks #Urbanventures #Workforce #GenZworkforce

If you need a shot of job satisfaction I strongly suggest partnering with a local school. Two schools is even better. Invite the teachers (thank you!) and students to your office. Explain what you do and invite your colleagues to do the same. Take the class on a tour of a project. Ask your partners to get involved. Talk about your career journey with the students, share your story and excitement about the opportunities available for all. Share a meal. It doesn’t take much to change the life trajectory of a young person. You’ll be glad you did.
Flintco partnered with Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs at Del Valle ISD and Crockett High School within Austin Independent School District to give high school students a firsthand look about what a career in construction could look like for them. Our skilled trade partners, project team at The Modern, and many colleagues shared their time, story, and professional insight with the students. Thank you! The workforce development career opportunities in construction are limitless. The bounty for those who embrace the challenge is plentiful. And the satisfaction our partners and colleagues receive in return by sharing their time and story with young people is priceless. Everybody wins. #IamFlintco #FlintcoEthos

Teaching the next generation of builders! (in small steps)
Check out this incredible story from WDEF-TV about the Build-A-Bench Project at the Construction Career Center! High school juniors and seniors, with guidance from BLOC members and CCC staff, put their skills to work designing and constructing over 30 custom benches for the Chattanooga Zoo and public spaces across the city. This hands-on project not only strengthens students' technical abilities but also instills pride in giving back to their community.

Building a successful career is like constructing a massive castle. It can only be achieved by focusing on laying one brick at a time. Each brick represents a task, a skill, or a goal. By concentrating on the small steps, you build a strong foundation for future success. Remember, consistency and patience are key. Over time, these efforts accumulate into something grand and impressive. Keep laying those bricks #CareerGrowth #Success #ProfessionalDevelopment
