Since human communities grew beyond the size of a tribe, where everyone knew everything about everyone, they needed registers. Land registers, population registers, and marriage registers were established. Later, registers for companies, ships, cars, and even cats were introduced. And, of course, it was usually the state that maintained them – after all, someone had to remind people who was married to whom. But perhaps humanity has reached a point where we can handle the task of confirming various facts without the state. Indeed, IT technologies have advanced to the point where registers can be decentralized, non-governmental, and even more reliable. How? Find out in this article. #decentralizedtechnology #w3ds #futureofgovernment #datasecurity #digitaltransformation #futureofinternet #future #postplatformsfoundation

🔒 Confidential Computing makes it possible to run programs on somebody else’s computer but where the owner of that computer can neither influence nor observe what’s happening. 😮 It is also instrumental in solving the problem of “protecting users from themselves”. This tech can revolutionize how businesses handle sensitive data, offering a competitive edge in industries where data security and trust are paramount. https://lnkd.in/guicekjR

The potential disappearance of the .io domain shows how vulnerable centralized systems are to political and legal actions. It’s a clear reminder that services must be truly decentralized, beyond just finance. Blockchain-based DNS and decentralized web protocols can offer the resilience needed to keep critical digital infrastructure safe from single points of failure https://lnkd.in/dwg6kyeG

Despite being one of the most critical technologies that makes the internet work, the Domain Name System (#DNS) is still one of the most misunderstood technologies. My colleague, Richard Wallace, shared a deep dive into the key findings from Vercara’s 2023 UltraDNS Traffic and Analysis report to help you and your organization stay updated on all things DNS. One data point that stood out to me from this report is that Vercara’s UltraDNS platform processed 41.97 trillion DNS queries in 2023. That’s a daily average of 115.01 billion queries per day! This volume of queries highlights not only the internet’s growing demand for DNS services, but also Vercara’s critical role in ensuring that millions of applications across the world remain available. Here at Vercara, we simplify DNS management to ensure seamless connectivity and robust #security for businesses. As Richard shares in his blog, it’s imperative for DNS administrators to stay up to date on emerging trends and collaborate with others to foster a secure and resilient DNS ecosystem. What’s your favorite way to keep up with the evolving landscape?

Check out this profile of our friends Aron Wagner and team at American Cloud in Blaze Media! The government and legacy companies, especially those that are part of Big Tech, have grown so large that they have unprecedented leverage over regular Americans, and they use that power to turn us from self-governing citizens into dependent serfs. Solving that political problem is going to require a solution that's at least in part economic. It's going to require regular Americans to roll up their sleeves and start businesses that respect the rights and privileges of citizens and help them flourish in the market and in society. Whatever your skillset, there's a market for you in the #ParallelEconomy. All it takes is a little integrity and the willingness to see people as your customers, not your products. (Big Tech, looking at you...) Take the plunge. Those of us who are already part of the #ParallelEconomy will help you. 🇺🇸 💪

'They’ve concentrated into a series of near-planetary duopolies. For example, as of April 2024, Google and Apple’s internet browsers have captured almost 85% of the world market share, Microsoft and Apple’s two desktop operating systems over 80%. Google runs 84% of global search and Microsoft 3%. Slightly more than half of all phones come from Apple and Samsung, while over 99% of mobile operating systems run on Google or Apple software. Two cloud computing providers, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Azure make up over 50% of the global market. Apple and Google’s email clients manage nearly 90% of global email. Google and Cloudflare serve around 50% of global domain name system requests. Two kinds of everything may be enough to fill a fictional ark and repopulate a ruined world, but can’t run an open, global “network of networks” where everyone has the same chance to innovate and compete. No wonder internet engineer Leslie Daigle termed the concentration and consolidation of the internet’s technical architecture “‘climate change’ of the Internet ecosystem.”' https://lnkd.in/gmGjYYCG

In a world where secrets oft are lost, Where passwords come with heavy cost, A dawn arrives, both bright and clear, Passwordless computing's here. No more strings we must recall, Or fear the breach that follows all. With biometrics, we now unlock, A gaze, a touch, a simple knock. The keys we used to guard with might, Replaced by tokens pure and light. A magic link within our mail, A code that will soon become stale. Devices whisper, "You're allowed," With push and ping, no need to crowd. No longer burdened by the past, The future's here, secure and fast. Our fingerprints, a face unique, Allows the access that we seek. Encrypted paths we boldly tread, With confidence, we forge ahead. The chains of old, we now discard, For stronger shields, our gates are barred. In realms where data flows like streams, We sail on passwordless dreams. A seamless dance of trust and tech, No longer worried by a check. In this new age, we find our peace, As risks and threats begin to cease. So let us toast to what’s begun, A safer world for everyone. With passwordless computing's grace, We step into a brighter space.
