European industries call for a bold and impactful Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative🌱🚀 🤝Alongside with 17 stakeholders across Europe are supporting these five core principles for the forthcoming EU Biotech and Biomanufacturing initiative. 🇪🇺 WHAT IS BORN IN EUROPE SHOULD ALSO GROW UP AND STAY IN EUROPE 🇪🇺 The regulatory status quo in Europe prevents the vast potential of the biosolutions sector from being unlocked. Lack of awareness, insufficient access to financing and scaling and a regulatory environment not quite fit for purpose prevents the biotech and biomanufacturing sector from helping us shape a more sustainable, resilient and competitive future for a green Europe. Crucially, the Commission and Executive Vice President Mrs. Magrethe Vestager presented a communication on boosting biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the EU on the 20th of March. In the wake of this landmark communication, it’s clear that the path forward requires action. Europe has a longstanding tradition of providing a good environment for innovations to blossom. The Commission’s recent communication is a testament to this legacy and a step forward in recognizing the critical role biosolutions play for our future. 🌍 Yet we must continue to act. In just two months, the European Parliament will hold elections, where biosolutions must be on the agenda. We have our work cut out for us, as it is not just about keeping these solutions within our borders, but also nurturing an ecosystem where they can grow, scale and ultimately benefit our communities and the planet. 🙌 However, while we celebrate this milestone, it’s imperative that we push for a dedicated European Bio Act. We must build on this momentum and advocate for policies that support innovation, ensure regulatory clarity and foster an environment where biosolutions can thrive. 🌱🌾 Because what is born in Europe should also grow up and stay in Europe. #EUBioCoalition #Biosolutions #GreenTransition #BioAct #BioTech #Bio #SustainableEurope

Along with colleague Marit Hvithamar Rystrøm we were invited to present the European Biosolutions Coalition at the #SwissBiotechDay2024 We are here in close cooperation with economiesuisse one of our founding partners in the Coalition 🇨🇭 Thank you for having us Michael Altorfer and for the fruitful discussion on how we can promote biosolutions in Europe 🇪🇺 Biosolutions might represent a smaller green dot 🟢 in the sea of red biotech 🔴 as my colleague Marit writes, but it is an important and growing sector across Europe and we have common ambitions. The European market is important for all of us and we agree on the urgency for Europe to speed up the recognition process of new biosolutions to achieve more sustainability, competitiveness and resilience in Europe🤞 We should move from biosolutions companies which are now born in Europe but often grow up elsewhere to companies which want to stay and grow in Europe 🌱 The more partners we are to push for change the better 🤝 #biosolutions #sustainability #competitiveness #resilience
