Can CPD training help with sustainability? Rising energy costs and socio-political worries can have a negative impact on net-zero commitments. With higher energy prices affecting consumer income, continuous spending on sustainable energy policies can become an increasingly difficult proposition for governments to justify. This trend can cause various difficulties for individuals and organisations interested in maintaining a sustainable outlook. However, these difficulties may also present new opportunities for individuals with a relevant and advantageous skillset. Professionals with proficiency in the field of #sustainability can offer a great amount value to organisations interested in developing sustainable practices. Adjusting and introducing operations, with the intention of creating more sustainable structures heading into the future, can provide various advantages for an organisation. More sustainable business practices can benefit an organisation by potentially decreasing future spending, offering a competitive advantage and encouraging consumer trust. Continuing Professional Development (#CPD) training in sustainable energy can broaden a professional’s knowledge and introduce up-to-date trends and technologies relevant to the field of sustainability. Participating in CPD for sustainability can also help an individual increase their value as an employee across a range of industries by developing in-demand and transferable #skills in sustainable energy.

Green Shitting - a trainer/consultant/advisor who claims to be a sustainability "expert" without having implemented anything related to sustainability before. In the spirit of new ESG terminologies and jargons being added to the sustainability dictionary, I thought I'd propose a new one. I'm really getting tired of seeing so many of such claims and post on my LI feed. To all the aspiring overnight "experts" out there, please realise, that if your main motivation to move into this space is to make money out of it, you have already lost the sustainability plot.

الأيام دي مهوسة لي بحاجه بس لسه ما بديت فيها أصحابي ال ecologies To get started with the GRI Standards for sustainability reporting, you can follow these steps: 1. Access the GRI Standards • The GRI Standards are publicly available for free on the official Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) website. You can download the standards and related guidance here: GRI Standards Download. 2. Understand the Standards • GRI offers various resources, including guidance documents, examples, and explanatory materials to help you understand how to use the standards effectively. Reviewing these materials will help you understand how to prepare a sustainability report that aligns with GRI requirements. 3. Training Programs • GRI Academy: GRI offers an online training platform, the GRI Academy, which provides courses on sustainability reporting, materiality assessments, and understanding GRI Standards. Completing these courses can help you gain expertise in using the standards for reporting. • Certified Training Partners: GRI has certified training partners globally who offer in-person or virtual training sessions. These programs are structured to provide detailed, practical knowledge on GRI reporting. • You can find certified training options here: GRI Training. 4. Conduct a Materiality Assessment • A materiality assessment helps identify the topics most relevant to your organization and stakeholders. GRI provides guidance on conducting this assessment, which is a foundational part of the reporting process. 5. Prepare and Compile Data • Gather data and evidence on the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects required by the GRI Standards. Ensure that the data is accurate, reliable, and well-organized. 6. Prepare the Report • Use the GRI Standards framework to prepare your report, aligning it with either the Core or Comprehensive options, depending on the level of detail you want to disclose. 7. Seek External Assurance (Optional) • Many organizations opt for third-party assurance to validate the accuracy of their sustainability report. This step is optional but can enhance the credibility of your report. 8. Publish and Communicate • Once the report is complete, you can publish it on your organization’s website or submit it to the GRI for additional visibility. GRI’s Disclosure Database allows for broader sharing and comparison of sustainability reports. By following these steps, you can create a GRI-compliant sustainability report that communicates your organization’s impact transparently.
