Imagine meeting someone for the first time, and they IMMEDIATELY insult you. You probably won't talk to them again, right? That’s exactly what’s happening in my DMs right now. I connect with someone who has a service-based business, and immediately get hit with a cold sales pitch for advice I didn’t ask for, or insults disguised as “let me help you” messages. I’m on this platform to learn from people, share my knowledge, and yes, make money in my business. But that last part comes in time. You can’t go directly from new connection to the hard sale. You have to add value, build trust and credibility, and genuinely connect with people. If you’re using LinkedIn for sales, great. But maybe think about how YOU want to be sold to. How you spend time learning, or researching, or listening to someone before you spend your money with them. Same concept applies when you turn the tables. So if you’re sliding into the DM’s and saying “you’re doing everything wrong and here’s how I can make X so much better,” I hate to break it to you, but it’s not helpful, it doesn’t feel good to the person receiving it, and it's a waste of your time. Finally realized: The goal of a post is not to sell. - The goal of a post is to educate. - The goal of a post is to increase awareness. - The goal of increasing awareness is to help them understand their problems. - The goal of helping them understand their problems is to book a call. - The goal of booking a call is to show the outcome transformation. - The goal of showing the outcome is to sell the service/product. Pitching your offer to everyone is simply a waste of time. And you can't close deals effectively. When you write a post on LinkedIn, remember: Your job is not to sell. Step 1 is to educate. P.S.
