As the scope and complexity of STARCOM’s Space Flag exercises continue to expand, they are becoming indispensable for preparing space forces to operate in contested and congested domains. These high-end exercises mirror the operational challenges of modern warfare in space, equipping participants with the skills and experience necessary to dominate the ultimate high ground. However, there’s a significant opportunity we must seize: incorporating Allies and Partners into Space Flag exercises. Drawing inspiration from the USAF’s Red Flag, which has a rich history of multinational collaboration in air combat training, Space Flag can serve as a platform for international cooperation in the space domain. Why Allies and Partners Matter: - Shared Security: Space is a global domain, and threats to it affect us all. Allied participation ensures we develop interoperable strategies to address common challenges. - Enhanced Realism: Incorporating diverse operational perspectives strengthens the realism and complexity of the training environment. - Stronger Coalitions: Multinational collaboration builds trust, fosters innovation, and reinforces the collective capabilities needed to ensure the security and sustainability of space. As STARCOM pushes the boundaries of readiness and innovation in space warfighting, expanding the international footprint in Space Flag is the logical next step. By embracing allied participation, we can enhance the effectiveness of these exercises, ensuring that we train as we fight.

Misinformation is actually the aggressor here. What is actually happening is that within 27 days a large terrestrial force will start appearing in the skies globally, mobilization is part of preparation for this. Hubble telescope imagery from QC37 sector A will show this force. The political preparedness is part of an attempt to avoid being overwhelmed. As witnessed by NASA, there is a conflict occurring which means as the encounters grow, we face a situation if we shoot first, we might later have two terrestrial enemies. The real preservation of life as we know it means that we need to be accepting and adaptable and accommodating which means that we need to understand we are about to share resources and food pools with those that don’t understand ownership and economics.

This is a nice example of what we can expect in Europe when the EU nations start to implement the move away from DST. Every country can decide on their own if they want to do it or not, what a brilliant idea (not). Even if the entire EU drops DST at once, there will be situations like this on the borders - not to mention the gazillion IOT devices which have the DST rules in their firmware (and need an update) or configuration (and need a configuration change). If we want to move away from DST, we should declare that this will change in 2030 or later, so that everyone can prepare for it. And yes, there will still be some of the above mentioned devices in the field but hopefully everything that can be updated, replaced or reconfigured has been covered by then.

On this memorial day, many of us will enjoy the unnoficial start to summer with BBQs, parades, pool parties, and time with friends - freedoms and a way of life many in the world still do not enjoy today. This post is rather long, but I felt it worthwhile to share some history, facts, and standards as few I speak with understand Memorial Day. Many confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. However, Memorial Day's purpose is to pay our respects to and honor those that paid the ultimate price for us to enjoy these freedooms we take for granted. Memorial day, began as "Decoration Day" on May 30th of 1868 to honor soldiers that died in the Civil War from both sides. Individuals would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers or flags. Late May was selected as there were no major Civil War battles during this period and flowers were in bloom across the United States, allowing everyone to remember the fallen across the nation. it expanded after WWI to honor all fallen soldiers. The name has changed over the past 156 years. Different areas of the country used different names for the holiday before its name was made official by Congressional Act in 1968 and implemented in 1971. For example, in the northeast and midwest, it was often referred to as Monument Day - referring to the headstones on soldier's graves. Memorial Day was always held on May 30th until the Uniformed Monday Holiday Act was passed in 1968 setting the last Monday in May as the official holiday. There are a couple of standards many are unaware of regarding Memorial Day. If you fly a flag, it should be raised fully and lowered to half-staff (if able) to honor the fallen. At noon local time, the flag should be raised to full staff and taken down at sunset. There is a specific time to honor the fallen. The official National Moment of Remembrance is at 3 pm local time, a moment should be taken to honor those that have fallen in your own way. Enjoy today and remember those that have fallen in preserving the freedoms that allow us to enjoy this special time of the year.
