Is the cost of an Interim Manager really higher than for a permanent employee when driving complex transformations? There is often a hesitancy to engage an Interim Manager to drive large change programmes. Some are still hesitant of using an outsider for business-critical transformations, questioning whether they are truly invested in the organization and its success. Also, there is concern about the cost of an Interim Manager’s day rate compared to the costs of a permanent employee. But is the cost really higher? Not if you consider that a permanent employee is not only paid a salary, but also pension, insurances, paid holiday, and other benefits. It is also very expensive with failed recruitments as both the recruitment- and exit process are very expensive. Hiring an Interim Project Manager mostly results in lower costs for the company in overheads. Also, the costs of a failed project or programme will far exceed those of either a permanent employee or an Interim Manager. With an interim Executive Programme Manager, the company gets access to an experienced leader who has done similar tasks many times before, competencies that are often lacking internally. Furthermore, a professional interim Project Manager ensures that the projects are completed on time and budget, securing a successful transformation. Upon closer comparison of all the advantages, the costs for an Interim Manager are actually quite reasonable. #interimmanagement #businesstrategy #bestadvice

Management: Governing Skilled Resources #femiokikiola To be able to successfully galvanize resources towards achieving set goals, managers are expected to have a set of skills (hard skills and soft skills). As managers, we should be able to analyze the financial aspects of the business. Cost evaluation, forecasting and budgetting are crucial for management planning and should also be able to delegate roles to the experts on the team. It is important that experienced hands are enrolled and financial management softwares employed to support the department in charge of finance. Auditing should be done with consistency to identify and block holes early. Strategic planning ranges from getting the right people on the team (which we touched on, yesterday) to ensuring that the product and services have the right channels of distribution to get to the users. It is also pertinent that we ensure that product of the best quality output is launched (developers) for the best user experience which means that the product/ service has to be well tested for the market. Revenue as a key component of strategic planning was briefly touched on yesterday. Because of the competition, we will not be revealing some of our plans for strategy on this platform. Data analysis is also one of the critical requirements of hard skills. As managers, we should be able to analyze data, represent data on spreadsheets, PowerPoint, bar and pie charts etc and be able to ask the right questions. Though, managers are not know it all, they are expected to at least have the basic knowledge in the trade. Except managers know, can own, and do understand the vision, it will be difficult to drive it. Managers are continuous learners and can develop a lot of expertize along the way. Managers should be able to hone their knowledge and should be able to support the team always. Remember, hard skills can always be learnt. Tomorrow, we will be talking on another crucial aspect of management skills. We will be talking on soft skills. Thank you for listening. Part 1 of our series on interim management in the healthcare sector. Today's topic: What makes a good interim manager? In our experience, there are three things that separate the good from the great - 👩🎓 Overqualified for their interim assignment As a rule of thumb, interim managers should have worked at least one level higher than the position they are filling. This ensures that they have practical experience of the role, know what is expected and do not need much on-the-job training. 💪 Skilled by experience Throughout their careers, they have encountered a wide range of situations and have been personally responsible for solving a variety of problems. This means they can quickly grasp the client's situation, provide hands-on support and find appropriate ad hoc solutions. 🙋♂️ Knowing they are coming to leave The interim's job is to keep things going for someone else – the manager on sick leave or parental leave, or the new guy who is about to be hired. The interim needs to have everything ready for the handover - from transparent reporting, to key stakeholder contacts, to a clearly structured document filing system to ensure a smooth transition. "Maximizing Business Success: Change the Game! The Strategic Advantages of Hiring External Consultants" LinkedIn is the ideal platform for sharing ideas and winning strategies in the business world. Today, I want to delve into why hiring external consultants might be the winning move for your company. Focused Skills for Specific Projects External consultants provide a level of total attention to a particular project, without the distractions associated with internal responsibilities and multiple business units. This ensures full dedication to the task at hand, optimizing efficiency and the quality of work. Specialization and Industry Expertise The specialization of external consultants in a specific field or industry makes them ideal tools for achieving goals and meeting project deadlines. Their direct experience can make a difference in achieving high-level results. Economic Savings: Project-Based Payment and Flexibility Hiring external consultants leads to significant savings: Project-based payment: You only pay for the specific work done, without ongoing expenses for salaries or benefits. Flexibility: You can easily adapt the involvement of external consultants to changing needs, avoiding the long-term commitments associated with hiring full-time internal employees. Limited Human Resources Responsibilities and Fixed Project Costs Since external consultants are not permanent staff, companies avoid the complexities of human resources management, ensuring fixed project costs and a clear view of expenses. Transparent Expense Breakdown Consultants provide a detailed breakdown of expenses, facilitating project financial management. Specialized platforms like Onsiter VMScan offer a unified view of hours worked and completed activities. Competitiveness and Innovation The diversified experience of external consultants, their ability to stay ahead, and their personalized approach ensure competitiveness and innovation. Actively collaborating with internal teams, they transfer knowledge, promote adaptation to market trends, and drive collaborative growth. Collaborative Growth and Innovation Working in collaboration with internal consultants, external consultants promote collaborative growth. This active partnership, based on joint analysis, planning, and implementation, ensures that innovation is not just a buzzword but a practical tool to drive change within the organization. In conclusion, hiring external consultants is a strategic investment that pays dividends in terms of efficiency, specialization, and business success. #ExternalConsultants #BusinessInnovation #EntrepreneurialSuccess
