In the last 6 years I have interviewed more than 300 small business owners and entrepreneurs. More than 90% of them did the following when starting their business: 1. They developed their new offer in isolation. 2. Majority guessed their ideal customers without any market research. 3. They didn’t have a clear strategy to set them apart and win customers’ hearts. 4. They wasted time and money on execution upfront, e.g., website, social, etc. 5. Each executional expert they hired developed their own strategy for them. As a result, they didn’t have a single-minded overall umbrella customer, innovation, brand and communication strategy in place, ensuring they were telling a clear, simple, consistent and compelling story about themselves and their offer across their marketing execution. The truth is creating a long-term compelling business and customer strategy is hard to do on our own.
