kubectl apply -f CKAD.yaml knowledgebase.skills/ckad-certificate created 🎉 I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully obtained the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification! 🚀 I would like to thank Mumshad Mannambeth the instructor of the "Kubernetes Certified Application Developer (CKAD) with Tests" course on Udemy, whose comprehensive 15.5-hour course equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the CKAD exam. The CKAD exam was an exciting challenge that tested my skills in managing and deploying applications on Kubernetes clusters. With a focus on designing, building, and deploying applications on Kubernetes, this certification validates my expertise in the following key areas: • Core concepts • Configuration • Multi-container pods • Observability • Pod design • Services and networking • State persistence Compare to CKA, the CKAD certification also includes additional knowledge points that further enhance my skills, such as: • Job/CronJob: Understanding and utilizing relevant parameters, including creating a Job from an existing CronJob configuration. • Readiness Probe and Liveness Probe (httpGet/tcpSocket/exec): Monitoring the health and availability of pods. • Pod resources allocation (cpu/memory) based on namespace memory limit ranges. • Deployment strategies using services, including blue-green deployments and canary deployments. • Deployment management, including rollout history/ undo operations, updating images, managing service accounts, and scaling replicas. • Network policies and Ingress configuration, with a focus on solving a complex scenario involving deployments, services, ingresses, and ingress classes. • Working with ConfigMaps and Secrets for environment variables and volume mounts. • Understanding Persistent Volumes (PV) and Persistent Volume Claims (PVC), with emphasis on hostPath PVs and single pod mounting on the same node as the PV. • Multi-container pods, including adapters for log format standardization and ambassadors for proxying database connections within a pod. Your support and resources were invaluable! 🚀 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐂𝐊𝐀𝐃 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦: The CKAD exam, created by The Linux Foundation, is a hands-on test that validates your ability to design, build, and manage applications on Kubernetes. It covers crucial areas such as application design and build, configuration, observability, pod design, API versions, Helm, Docker, services & networking. For me, this exam was harder then the CKA. I studied for 3 days before taking this as alot of the content wasnt new from the CKA so I skipped what I already knew, but make sure to prepare well! 🚀 Preparing for the CKAD exam? Here are some tips: 1️⃣ Mumshad Mannambeth's CKAD course on Udemy and KodeKloud is an excellent resource. It comprehensively covers all the essential concepts. Ensure you understand and practice each module. 2️⃣ Utilize KodeKloud labs and mock exams to sharpen your skills. Practice until you’re comfortable with all the tasks. Completing mock exams is key for time management and confidence. 3️⃣ Take advantage of the two free simulator sessions provided by Killer Shell (Kim Wüstkamp) with your CKAD registration. These sessions are challenging but provide superb practice. Each session is available for 36 hours and closely mimics the actual exam experience. 4️⃣ Focus on mastering imperative commands to save time. Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) ✅ I've successfully earned the CKAD certification, marking a significant milestone in my journey towards mastering Kubernetes application development.  If you are already working with Kubernetes, then this exam will be a piece of cake for you. For those preparing for the CKAD exam, here are some suggestions that helped me: • Be familiar with the Kubernetes documentation: During the exam, if you quickly need to find the relevant templates or syntax for validation, knowing your way around the official docs can save precious time and help you quickly review if you get stuck. • Switch context for each question: Each question needs to be solved in a specific terminal. Make sure to switch contexts correctly to avoid any confusion and ensure your solutions are applied in the right environment. • Hands-on Practice: Start your learning journey by experimenting with your Kubernetes clusters. There’s no substitute for real-world practice. Some helpful resources: • CloudAcademy(QA) labs: These labs provide valuable hands-on practice learning. • Official CNCF course: I took this course but personally, I don't recommend it as better resources are available. • Killer Shell exam simulator: While this simulator is much harder than the actual exam, it’s excellent for thorough preparation. • Killercoda practice scenarios: These scenarios are incredibly helpful.
