This is a video of @BethellJacob Batting in Training by himself, https://lnkd.in/egqrhKBa he looks a really good bat, one of the motor preferences people have is #Horizontal vs #Vertical in this video Jake looks like he has a horizontal preference, watch how he accesses the ball with the bat, where does the front elbow go?, where is the rear elbow in the stance in relation to the body? watch the upper body and which way it turns to access drives closer to the body, what do you notice? Now watch this video of him range hitting with Mousley https://lnkd.in/ebuMZg6j Look at the rear elbow in the stance, Jakes one goes behind the rib cage, with young players you might see the elbow from the bowlers view poking out behind the back when the bat is backlifted straighter, then check Mousleys, what do you notice? People access the ball differently, this weekend 2 brothers I coach both are obviously a horizontal preference have been asked by their batting coach to #align and he wants the head hands and feet in a line, he wants the bat to point in the backlift towards the stumps, this takes the rear elbow behind the rib cage for horizontal preference players, the feedback on the balls that are fed straight is that they keep whipping the ball to the leg side, "come on hit the ball straighter" is what they get told, well the backlift you have asked them to do to align caused the issue, on the downswing to the straighter delivery the elbow needs to rotate AROUND the body closing the blade and getting to the ball in an Arc rather than straight line, the simple fix is let the bat point out towards the slips, the hands can remain by the waist, this allows the rear elbow to straighten and access the ball in straighter lines if that is what you want as a coaching goal #batting #cricket #cricketcoaching #alignment #accesstotheball #horizontalpreference #motorpreferences #motorsignatures
