Reflecting on yesterday’s workshop with Vijay George Kuruvilla for our India Leadership team at AutoRABIT, I am inspired by his insights on cultivating a winning managerial mindset. Vijay George truly brought his A-game, sharing powerful lessons on leadership and authenticity. Building on his training, I’d like to add a few personal reflections from my own journey—lessons I’ve learned the hard way over the past 20+ years in HR. One of the most impactful truths I’ve come to realize is the necessity of difficult conversations. I often avoided hard feedback in my early days, worrying it might harm relationships. But over time, I’ve seen how honest conversations, when delivered with empathy, can drive real growth. Most people value knowing where they stand, and this feedback becomes the foundation for stronger performance. Vijay also touched on balancing empathy with accountability—a challenge I know well. I’ve learned you can be kind and still uphold high standards. Empathy doesn’t mean lowering expectations; it means showing people you care about their success and wellbeing while keeping goals clear. On the tough topic of letting people go, I couldn’t agree more with Vijay’s advice. It’s always difficult, but sometimes letting go of someone who isn’t a fit is the best decision for both the individual and the team. When done with compassion, it can lead to positive change for everyone involved. Finally, I’m reminded of how critical self-awareness is to leadership. Teams see our strengths and weaknesses; the difference is whether we acknowledge them ourselves. Being open to feedback, even about our own blind spots, is key. As Vijay emphasized, great leaders don’t hide flaws—they actively work on them. Yesterday’s session reminded me that 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞; 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲. Thank you, Vijay George Kuruvilla, for such an impactful workshop. There is a lot to write on the session, but I am referring to a few. Here’s to continually growing as leaders who inspire, empower, and support. #LeadershipLessons #WinningMindset #HRInsights #PeopleFirst #GrowthMindset #AuthenticLeadership #EmployeeEngagement #ManagerialMindset #EmpathyAndAccountability #CareerGrowth #Sankethinsights

You know you’ve found your calling when your work becomes more than just a profession—it becomes your passion and purpose. This realization hit me recently during a two-day intervention with one of the leading private sector banks in the country. I had the privilege to train and coach a dynamic group of department and branch heads from various regions across India. What struck me most was their enthusiasm and commitment to the leadership development program. The energy in the room was electrifying as we dived into key topics like delegation, team building, trust and credibility, time management, goal setting, and the art of delivering constructive feedback. The participants were fully engaged, and the interactive sessions sparked insightful discussions, collaborative learning, and real transformations. It was inspiring to see 25 leaders actively participating in activities that not only challenged their perspectives but also brought forward new strategies for growth. The level of engagement during these two days was extraordinary, and I am grateful to have been part of their journey. This session wasn’t just about imparting knowledge, but about mutual learning and growing together. Wishing this incredible team continued success and growth in their leadership paths. #leadershipdevelopment #passionandpurpose #corporatecoaching #delegation #teambuilding #trustbuilding #credibility #goalsetting #feedbackskills #timemanagement #leadersofindia #privatebanking #growthmindset #professionaldevelopment

This #weekendreads is about Transformative leadership. It caught my attention since our forthcoming #HBA India Leadership Summit is all about this! As India goes through the current growth trajectory & transformation, it’s imperative to ensure that we are ready to ride this wave to lead, to innovate and to create possibilities for our leaders. I believe one of the key pillars of this #Transformative leadership is to prioritize #diversityandinclusion. It is not just a moral imperative but also a business strategy that helps to drive innovation and growth. By embracing the strengths and perspectives of a #diverse leadership team, companies can navigate complex challenges, seize opportunities, and thrive in today’s competitive landscape with differentiative #possibilities. Diverse leadership emphasizes on a vision and a commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. It offers an #arena to bring a variety of perspectives, experiences and ideas to the table. People from different backgrounds, #culture, and level are able to offer novel and unique solutions to the same problem. Additionally, having the diverse minds challenge these unique solutions leads to identifying the risks, ensuring that decisions are critically evaluated and challenged. This inclusive environment where all employees feel valued and heard can lead to higher levels of #engagement and #productivity. It also attracts top talent, thus helping to build a strong and dynamic #workforce. It’s a win-win situation! A casual chat on Friday morning in office .. Chetan: Where is the next annual meeting planned? Sandra: May be Goa. But better check with Atul. He would know it for sure. Chetan: Why would Atul know it for sure? Sandra: Because you know how close he is with Boss. That is why he would know it for sure. This conversation incidentally highlights a manager with bias. With people working together, some biases and preferences seem inevitable. However .. You can consciously work towards identifying and fighting your own biases. Would you like to be known as a manager with biases .. ? Or you would like to be known as an unbiased manager .. ? Choose your tribe. #Leadership #ManagerialEffectiveness #Success #Growth #Achievement #Talent #BackToBasics #TeamBuilding #FightTheBias

RIP Ratan Tata A visionary leader, a compassionate soul, and a true inspiration. It was an honor to meet him during the Insight program at Isha, where he not only shared his remarkable leadership style but also opened up about his deeply felt and lived worldview. Known for his ethical leadership and strong focus on social responsibility, particularly in education, healthcare, and rural development, his legacy has left an enduring impact on all who were inspired by him. Personally, Ratan Tata’s influence on me was profound. Beyond his business acumen, what struck me was his deep humility and genuine concern for the well-being of others. He emphasized leading with empathy and integrity - values that resonated deeply with me. His unwavering commitment to creating positive change inspired me to think beyond success and focus on leaving a meaningful impact on the world. From Ratan Tata’s leadership, we can draw several timeless lessons: Lead with Empathy and Humility: Understanding the needs of others, both in business and in life, creates a culture of trust and respect. Focus on Social Responsibility: Leadership is about more than profits; it’s about improving lives and contributing to the greater good through initiatives in education, healthcare, and rural development. Integrity is Key: Staying true to one’s values, even in challenging times, builds long-term respect and credibility. Take Calculated Risks: Bold decisions and innovation require courage, but they must be balanced with thoughtful, strategic action. Stay Grounded and Accessible: Being open, relatable, and connected to people at all levels fosters stronger relationships and a healthier organizational culture. These principles, rooted in empathy, integrity, and purpose, serve as a powerful foundation for leadership and will continue to guide us for generations. #Tata #leadership #integrity
