Today is #worldenvironmentday ☘️🌍 I would like to say something in line with my eco startup Reppatch and my experiences. "The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it." says Robert Swan. I can't tell you how often I use this quote. Will you save the world? No, we will try it together. Collective consciousness have potential of saving the world. My eco startup Reppatch, which has been 1.5 years old these days, worked hard before launching its main product and is still trying. We had to first create awareness and then make our products attractive. Creating consciousness was perhaps the most difficult thing. Because there are many more people, institutions and organizations around the world who abuse this good will than we expected. Trying to achieve something by encountering such people, institutions and organizations is the real challenge in the sustainability sector. I congratulate World Environment Day to everyone who embraces and tries to overcome this challenge and trying the best for our world. Towards a greener and collective future together…

What's New: 🔄 Sectors Revised: To enhance clarity and align with science, particularly planetary boundaries and GHG emissions distribution, we've streamlined sectors. 🔄 New Additions: Welcomed startups that reached out or caught our attention. Open invite for others to join the conversation! 🔄 Some Removals: A sector reshuffle led to removing some companies, despite their valued impact and they are still part of our community. For instance, sustainable food and mobility actors without large scale impact on GHG or biodiversity; or enablers focusing broadly on impact rather than pure climate. 🎯 Selection Criteria: Our focus is on startups that: ✔Directly capture or remove GHG emissions. ✔Reduce GHG emissions in high-impact areas like energy, construction, and transport. ✔Regenerate ecosystems/biodiversity. ✔Manage or recycle waste. ✔Are innovative with potential for scalability. ✔Enable their clients to act on one of the above topics. 🔍 Note: While our map highlights the Belgian climate startup landscape, we acknowledge and appreciate the broader community of investors, accelerators, NGOs, and others playing vital roles in sustainability.
