We are pleased to announce that we are continuing to invest in our business by upgrading our X-ray capability from our ageing real time radiographic testing unit, to the latest integrated digital and wet film technology. Radiographic testing is a non-destructive testing method used to examine the internal structure of manufactured components and identify any flaws or defects for comparison to against set acceptance standards. We expect this upgrade to be completed in Q4 2024 with a view to being ready for operation in Q1 2025, following site acceptance testing and operator training. This invest will allow PACE to modernise and enhance its existing NDT checks and avoid any potential future obsolescence issues with the current unit. If you would like more information regarding the onsite and sub-contract NDT services that can be provided with our castings, please contact our sales team via sales@pace-ltd.com. 🎲 What Is Nondestructive Testing? Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components or assemblies for discontinuities, or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed the part can still be used. Today modern nondestructive tests are used in manufacturing, fabrication and in-service inspections to ensure product integrity and reliability, to control manufacturing processes, lower production costs and to maintain a uniform quality level. During construction, NDT is used to ensure the quality of materials and joining processes during the fabrication and erection phases, and in-service NDT inspections are used to ensure that the products in use continue to have the integrity necessary to ensure their usefulness and the safety of the public. 🎯 NDT Test Methods Test method names often refer to the type of penetrating medium or the equipment used to perform that test. Current NDT methods are:👇👇 ◾Acoustic Emission Testing (AE), ◾Electromagnetic Testing (ET), ◾Guided Wave Testing (GW), ◾ Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), ◾Laser Testing Methods (LM), ◾Leak Testing (LT), ◾Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), ◾Microwave Testing, ◾Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), ◾Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), ◾Neutron Radiographic Testing (NR), ◾Radiographic Testing (RT), ◾Thermal/Infrared Testing (IR), ◾Ultrasonic Testing (UT), ◾ Vibration Analysis (VA) and ◾ Visual Testing (VT). The six most frequently used test methods are MT, PT, RT, UT, ET and VT. #NDT #QualityAssurance #welding #Shipbuilding

The Gap Between Production and Quality Departments In our recent experience, we encountered a challenge that highlights the importance of collaboration between production and quality departments. Amidst the urgency of dispatch, the production team proceeded with hydrotesting before receiving the results of radiography. Unfortunately, when the radiography results arrived, welding joints were found to require repair. Despite this setback, the hydrotesting was successful. This incident underscores the need for better communication and alignment between departments. While meeting deadlines is crucial, prioritizing quality assurance processes ensures the integrity of our products. Moving forward, let's strive for stronger collaboration and mutual respect for each other's expertise. By working together seamlessly, we can achieve both efficiency and excellence in our operations. #qualitycontrol #production #ndt #ndtjobs #radiography #testingjobs #testing #qualityassurance
