A new breakthrough in predator control is on the horizon — a rat-specific toxin that leaves birds, pets, and livestock unharmed. Scientists worldwide have been exploring how to make it palatable to rats. We spoke with Dr Lee Shapiro about a new norbormide formulation and method, which he believes will be “an essential new tool in the predator free toolkit.”

🔍 **Black Flies: An Emerging Threat to Human and Livestock Health** The recent MSN article sheds light on the growing concerns around black flies, or buffalo gnats, and their significant impact on public health and livestock. Here's a deep dive into the key points: 🦟 **Disease Transmission**: Black flies are notorious carriers of onchocerciasis (river blindness), affecting millions in equatorial regions of Africa and Latin America. 🚨 **Public Health Risk**: Beyond annoyance, their bites can cause "black fly fever," inducing symptoms like headache, nausea, and fever, disrupting daily life. 🌍 **Geographic Spread**: Widespread in the US, with pronounced effects in the upper Midwest and Northeast, these pests are seasonal disruptors to outdoor activities. 🐄 **Livestock Danger**: Livestock isn't spared. Black flies can transmit detrimental diseases to animals, leading to severe health issues and even fatalities. 🔬 **Life Cycle**: Understanding their development stages from egg to adult in running water helps in strategizing control measures. 🎯 **Control Measures**: Emphasis on repellents, avoiding infested areas, and biological controls to curb their population. The implications for our industry are profound. Now, more than ever, effective flyscreen solutions are critical. By innovating and adapting to these evolving threats, we can protect both homes and businesses from this growing menace. Let's discuss further on how we can innovate in this space. A Very Sad reality which is known to some people but still they choose to ignore and consume meat and promote this massacre. In the wake of disease outbreaks on poultry farms, millions of animals suffer unimaginable cruelty. Beaks chopped off, drowned in water, baby chicks crushed in grinder and much more. In the rush to contain these outbreaks, chickens and other farmed animals are often killed in brutal ways, and many are left to endure horrific conditions. This is a stark reminder of the hidden cost of animal agriculture – where profit is prioritized over compassion. By choosing a vegan lifestyle, we can reject the exploitation of animals and reduce the demand for these practices. It’s time to rethink what we put on our plates, for the planet, for the animals, and for our own well-being. 💚 #VeganForTheAnimals #EndFactoryFarming #CompassionOverCruelty #AnimalRights

🚨 APHA Issue Warning: Bluetongue Virus Threat to Livestock 🐮 Bluetongue Virus (BTV) poses a serious threat to livestock. Carried by biting midges, this virus primarily affects ruminants such as sheep and cattle. However, its impact extends far beyond livestock health, with significant economic and trade repercussions. In a recent risk assessment, The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) has issued a warning about the potential introduction of bluetongue virus serotype 3 (BTV-3) into livestock in Great Britain through infected biting midges being blown over from northern Europe. Since November, there have been 126 confirmed cases of BTV in England across 73 premises in 4 counties. Counties along the south and east coasts of England are particularly at risk due to their proximity to Northern Europe, where BTV-3 is actively transmitted. With no available vaccine for BTV-3 in Great Britain, effective biosecurity measures are crucial. At Byotrol, we offer innovative solutions like ANIGENE Professional Surface Disinfectant Cleaner and ANIGENE Professional Chlorine Tablets, both approved by Defra for General Orders, providing reliable protection against BTV. I wrote about this problem in 2022: the potential for bird flu to spill over into humans through industrial animal farming. Just one more step- human to human transmission- and it's another pandemic, folks. One variant of bird flu has killed more than half of people it infected. link to my article in the comments https://lnkd.in/ePH8zM7K
