Online shopping is going to look completely different in the AI era. Here's a sneak peek at what's coming... You're going to be able to build a hyper personalized "digital department store" and choose which brands show up inside. Believe it or not, this already exists. It's called Showroom, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was a glimpse into the future of e-commerce. So how does it work? If you think about, the online shopping experience today is pretty subpar. Let's say you're looking for a black wool overcoat. First, you may start at a digital retailer like Amazon or Macy's. This will drive some compelling results, but also a ton of junk from brands you don't like. The experience is super noisy. Quickly you'll shift to the "many tabs" approach, where you open new tabs for each of your favorite brands and spend hours scrolling through tons of products that aren't wool jackets. Overall, you spend hours searching and rarely find what you're looking for. But what if instead, you had a single tab...one with a direct pipe into all of your favorite brands? And in this tab, you had a master search, where you could ask for anything? "Black wool coat under $300" Instantly, all of the relevant black wool coats, from only the brands you care about, shows up in a curated product feed. This is what Showroom has built -- online shopping in the age of AI. The universal search is like a personalize knowledge layer on top of fashion. Today, it's a bit of a newer user experience, but eventually, this will become the norm because of ease of use and hyperpersonalization.
