✨ Wednesday Wisdom ✨ Weather conditions significantly influence how well your vehicle's battery performs. Whether it's extreme heat or cold, these conditions affect the battery's capacity and longevity. ❄️ Cold Weather Effects: In colder temperatures, batteries face several challenges. Chemical reactions slow down, reducing the battery's ability to deliver sufficient current to start the engine. Additionally, cold weather increases the battery's internal resistance, making it harder for electricity to flow smoothly. This resistance can cause difficulty in starting the vehicle, especially if the battery is older or not properly maintained. Furthermore, cold temperatures thicken engine oil, requiring more power from the battery to crank the engine. To mitigate these effects, ensure your battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. Regularly test your battery's health, especially before winter arrives, to catch any issues early. Parking in a garage or sheltered area can also help maintain a more stable temperature and reduce strain on the battery. For additional protection, consider using a battery insulation kit designed to keep the battery warmer during cold weather. 🔥 Hot Weather Effects: Extreme heat can also impact battery performance. High temperatures accelerate fluid evaporation within the battery, leading to reduced battery life and capacity over time. Heat can also accelerate corrosion on battery terminals and cables, which can affect electrical conductivity and overall battery performance. To safeguard your battery during hot weather, regularly inspect and clean battery terminals and cables to prevent corrosion buildup. Parking your vehicle in shaded areas whenever possible helps reduce exposure to direct sunlight and heat, which can prolong battery life. Regular battery testing throughout the year, especially after periods of hot weather, ensures optimal performance and helps identify any potential issues early. 🚗 General Maintenance Tips: In addition to weather-specific maintenance, driving your vehicle regularly allows the alternator to recharge the battery fully. Short trips or extended periods of inactivity can lead to a drained battery, so regular use is beneficial. Monitor battery fluid levels if your battery requires it, ensuring they are maintained according to manufacturer recommendations. Understanding how weather conditions affect your vehicle's battery and implementing these maintenance tips can extend its lifespan and ensure reliable performance year-round. So in this freedom of information based report released Dec 2023 on Lithium Battery fires from 2022/23 the statistics are rather telling. The number 1 culprit was e-Bikes but the second highest has been Electric Vehicles. This flies in the face of what the official narrative is saying. The old story of ICE fires being far more prevalent is very deceitful especially because they conveniently ignore the massive disparity between the number of ICE cars on the roads vs EV's. Nor do they take into account the average age of the ICE vehicle or its state of repair. Petrol and Diesel NEVER self combust. There always needs to be an external ignition source and generally this is down to poor electric maintenance. Lithium batteries however go into thermal runaway all by themselves. As the numbers of EV's go up and as they age this will become strikingly obvious. https://lnkd.in/d2ByjQyT

#Warning #Explosion #SafetyFirst #BatteryHazards First of all, I only include 10 seconds of the disturbing video because no know needs to see the outcome. But I wanted to post it here because it is serious and these EV batteries come with a risk. First off Ensure Your Batteries Are From Reputable Dealers! The use of electric vehicle (EV) batteries is becoming increasingly common however before you bring your scooter into the house / apartment, just remember this video and what a bad battery can mean to your home, your loved ones, your neighbors. It's crucial to remember that these powerful energy sources require careful handling and maintenance to ensure safety. This tragic incident occurred where an individual was transporting a large EV battery in a lift. Unfortunately, as you can see the battery exploded. This serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with improper battery handling. Key Safety Tips Purchase From Reputable Dealers: Always ensure your batteries are sourced from trustworthy and certified suppliers. Counterfeit or low-quality batteries can have manufacturing defects that significantly increase the risk of failure. Avoid Overcharging: Overcharging batteries can lead to excessive heat build-up, potentially causing thermal runaway and explosions. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for charging times and procedures. Proper Handling and Storage: Handle batteries with care. Avoid dropping or puncturing them, and store them in a cool, dry place to prevent damage. Regular Maintenance: Keep track of your battery's health. Regularly inspect for any signs of wear and tear, and replace batteries that show signs of damage or malfunction. Don't pimp out your scooter and bypass safety for speed. As suggested by a wonderful friend and my go to b*llsh*t detector -"most of these incidents are related to mods ebike riders do to their bikes/packs for more performance such as bypassing the safety circuits (BMS - Battery Management System) all Lithium packs come with. These effectively shut the pack down when a short is encountered. Not saying this guy did it but it's a possibility". Your safety and the safety of those around you are paramount. By following these precautions, you can help prevent accidents and ensure that your EV battery use is both efficient and safe. Stay safe and be vigilant! #BatterySafety #EV #ElectricVehicles #SafetyFirst #TechSafety #EnergyStorage

Is your vehicle going to be gathering dust over the summer? 🚐 If your vehicle only operates during term-time, being left alone all summer could present some issues, namely the battery going flat whilst the engine is off for so long. To prevent this, there’s a couple of things you can do! You might choose to have someone go in and run the engine for 15 minutes a week to keep the battery alive, or take it for a longer drive for a more complete charge. There’s also the option of a trickle charger, if nobody is available to run the engine. Bear in mind that this will need charging every so often- however, solar powered options are available that will sustain the battery if the bus will be kept outside for the duration of the summer. ☀ It's also advisable to get the vehicle checked over by a mechanic at least two weeks before it’ll be needed on the roads again- that way, you’ve got plenty of time to arrange repairs or maintenance and you’ve saved yourself the hassle of having to rush! Want to lease or purchase a vehicle outright? or discuss funding options? For that or any other enquiries: 📞 Call: 01489 250503 📩 Email: millie@cvmgroup.co.uk
