Another day, another great AI literacy workshop completed... this time with students at CTK St Mary's in SE London. Check the post from Jeremy and talk to us about bringing the Foundations Workshop to your school or college 🚀👨💻 #futureofeducation #ai #aieducation #futureofwork #ailiteracy #Education #YourTomorrow #TeachingInnovation
Trustee and Chair of Your Tomorrow CIO | Managing Director at Think Alumni | AI in education advocate | Speaker | Empowering the next generation with AI literacy
One of my favourite parts of our ‘Foundations’ AI literacy workshop is witnessing firsthand as students discover new abilities in AI tools 🤖 Yesterday, we worked with a bright group of enthusiastic students at CTK St Mary's on our AI Drinks Challenge. Using our laptops, ready to go with the latest tech, students experiment with AI tools to create ideas and marketing plans for a new type of soft drink. Hands-on exercises are invaluable, providing practical experience with AI tools, enhancing understanding, and demonstrating how AI can be a brilliant learning partner 👥 Christ the King is a forward-thinking group of colleges, and it’s inspiring to see their commitment to preparing their students for the future. ** The world is changing. Let’s equip our young people to flourish. Talk to us about bringing the Foundations Workshop to your school or college.** #YourTomorrow #ctk #ailiteracy #ai #futureofeducation

Yesterday, I finally had time to read the whole issue. It was such a pleasure to read about a range of topics written by a diverse group of authors - early career teachers and school leaders, academics and practitioners, librarians and industry representatives - and everything in between. "Is AI a Learning Machine: A Study of AI in Education" (p. 53) is my research-based answer to the question of how schools are responding to AI. We hear about some great examples at conferences, but what is everyone else thinking and doing? Most of us have answers based on our experiences but, in this study, we are systematically examining the full range of schools' responses. While I am wrapping up the recruitment of new schools, I would still love to hear from Australian schools that 1. have decided against the use of AI; 2. are primary schools integrating AI into their classroom practice. Study participants will receive a copy of the final report. A shoutout to the fantastic PLC Sydney team. Thanks to the TLN for all their work on this issue. Here are the authors if you wish to connect (alphabetical by 1st author - this is a librarian for you): Daniel Cohen, Matthew Esterman 🧔🏻, Leon Furze, Keith Heggart, Kael Little, Danny Liu with Mark A. Bassett and Carlo Iacono, Damian Maher, Travis McKenzie, Michael O'Keeffe, Marino D'Ortenzio, Rod Smith, Allison Staff, Josh Valeri, Sophie Whish and Tamika Worrell.
The Winter edition of TLN's practitioner journal is now live and free on our website: https://lnkd.in/gG6KHb6m. Teachers, leaders and researchers in the field offer insightful discussion and practical classroom strategies for educators approaching this latest chapter in the digital revolution. 'AI is a powerful tool, but it is also the subject of a complex and busily contested field of discussion. This edition of the journal aims to make a useful contribution to the current discussion around AI in education, and to broaden the understanding of professional educators as we face the future with cautious optimism.'
