🍁It's the Last Day of April and the first day of Term 2 for many children! 👧 As we commence a new school term, it's important to think about how we can best help our little ones achieve their best potential in the next 10 weeks! Whether your child is in mainstream school or Special Needs school, to make it the best year yet for your child, it's necessary to plan each Term of 10 weeks at the start of the Term.💪 Here at Sydney Kids Physio, we are often asked to help write up Physio Management Plans for children who are attending Special Needs School. The goal is to have clarity on what daily and weekly tasks must each child be performing to ensure that at the end of 10 weeks, the child has made progress towards their bigger goal for the year. Examples of daily tasks for a child with special needs at school could include having a Standing program where the teacher and support teacher are taught how to place a child onto a stander for standing practice each day at school, while the class is having desk top activities. Another example would be to ensure that a child with special needs has opportunity during the school day to have breaks in a sensory room to help with their sensory regulation in order to be able to come back to the classroom and focus on learning new challenging tasks like writing or drawing.😊 Examples of daily tasks for a typically developing child at mainstream school could be reading a book for 15minutes each day. Another example would be to participate in 10 minutes of active outdoor play each day and limiting time on hand held devices to two sets of 15 minutes break after school. 💪 By completing each daily tasks during the school week for 10 weeks, the result would be a focused term of wins for your child! 🚀So why not set up a daily task planner for your child today and watch them flourish! If you have concerns about your child's gross motor skills development, reach out to Sydney Kids Physio on📱 (02) 9790 4233 or DM us @sydneykidsphysio to speak to one of our Expert Paediatric Physiotherapists 🤓today!💪 #myfavouritephysio #physio #paedsphysio #sydneykidsphysio #specialneedskids #cpwarrior #hypotonia #physiotherapy #bankstown
