Off to Hong Kong to deliver the keynote address at the 2024 Cyberport Hong Kong Venture Capital Forum. Hard to believe that this will be my first visit to Asia since COVID, the longest time away in my career. While it's remarkable that we all forged on and adapted to remote meetings or gatherings elsewhere, I can't wait to feel the energy of my old adopted home once again and see old friends and colleagues in person. At #CVCF2024, I hope to present a more optimistic and innocent view of the world through a technology lens. Now is not the time for caution, negativity, or inaction; we must inspire more innovative thinking and intelligent risktaking to make the globe a better place for future generations. Here's the topic and synopsis for Thursday (10/24) morning's speech: INVENTING THE FUTURE The world faces daunting challenges -- from climate change to pandemics, from famine to political instability. Education and healthcare systems around the globe are on the brink. How can breakthrough innovations, entrepreneurial spirit, and smart investment bring optimism and shine light to these problems? How can technology serve as an olive branch to bring East and West together? Andrew Chung has helped build eight unicorn companies, creating over $30 billion in market value, and was previously a general partner at Khosla Ventures and investor at Lightspeed Ventures and Bain Capital.
