📣 🇪🇺 A few days ago, Rotor vzw-asbl presented the PREUSE project at the Circular[x]Change event in Copenhagen! It was an opportunity for us to present the latest progress and experiments being carried out to accelerate the reuse and reclaimed of building elements in #NorthWesternEurope. The PREUSE international #researchproject, which began in February 2024, has 5 years to help local and regional public authorities improve the management of their material resources and implement solutions within their territory to reclaim and #reuse building materials. 💬 The adventure has only just started, and discussions are already taking place with the various players in the #circulareconomy attending the event and active in the region and beyond: BRDA Foundation - Zirkular - baubüro in situ ag - Refunc - materialnomaden gmbh - Concular - Lendager - studio acker - Skepnad Arkitekter - Recursos Urbans - TRNSFRM eG - Spolia Studio - Forma - Superuse - Atelier Gapont. Thank you for organising and inviting us! Let's continue these rich discussions soon! Interreg North-West Europe (NWE)

Very excited to have pitched our vision to Wopke Hoekstra and Tim van der Hagen. I had the privilege to pitch our groundbreaking solution to none other than Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner on Climate, and Tim van der Hagen, Rector Magnificus at TU Delft, at a gathering for innovative companies from Delft. Our mission? To revolutionize infrastructure sustainability by extending the lifespan of steel structures, thus significantly reducing CO2 emissions. At Villari, we've developed cutting-edge technology that detects early-stage fatigue cracks in critical areas, ensuring the longevity of steel structures. By minimizing the need for frequent replacements, our solution directly contributes to a greener future by decreasing the demand for steel production. Imagine a world where our bridges, buildings, and industrial facilities last longer, requiring fewer resources for maintenance and replacement. That's the future we're working towards at Villari, and it was an honor to share our vision with Mr. Hoekstra and Mr. van der Hagen and other innovative minds at the gathering. #Sustainability #Infrastructure #Innovation #ClimateAction Picture by Sicco van Grieken

How can you transform a 1955 wastewater treatment plant into an innovative, sustainable public space? AKT II is excited to be part of the VERKET project, collaborating with Team VERK-SAM (Marge Arkitekter, TREDJE NATUR and Lone-Pia Bach), ArkDes, and Ulricehamn Municipality that works to answer this question. This innovative initiative explores how Ulricehamn’s 1955 wastewater treatment plant can be transformed into a sustainable public space, maintaining the industrial heritage of the site and the buildings on it while making it climate resilient and more biodiverse. Our Technical Director, David Watson, alongside our Copenhagen Studio is working in a multidisciplinary team to reimagine this outdated infrastructure, combining design, environmental responsibility, and community engagement. The team also includes our local partner, Tyréns AB. We look forward to contributing AKT II’s expertise to create a lasting, adaptable solution that meets future urban needs. Three Months of Floating Innovation! Three months ago, we launched the first pilot of our #Bluelands Foundation in close collaboration with our partner OPPY International 🐙. This milestone marked a significant step toward Blue21 's vision of a sustainable, resilient future where floating solutions address the challenges of urbanization, climate change, and rising sea levels. Our expanded modular floating office, now 14 square meters, embodies the potential of floating construction as a cornerstone of this future. Visit us at the The Green Village, TU Delft Campus, to experience this innovative workspace and explore how floating infrastructure can transform our cities and ecosystems for the better. Join us in building the future, one floating platform at a time!

We just found out that our work is starting to reach the Norwegian parliament. In the recent recommendation from the Transport and Communications Committee on appropriations in the Norwegian state budget for 2025, Ocean Industries Concept Lab and #openbridge are specifically mentioned (translated from Norwegian): The committee members from the Conservative Party (Høyre) note in this context that companies associated with the (innovation) catapults and the research group Ocean Industries Concept Lab at AHO contribute to safer, more sustainable, and more efficient maritime coastal shipping through the OpenBridge design framework. It is fantastic to see that our work is noticed in the higher offices of Norway. And we have more to share soon. Open innovation is moving ahead, fast. #maritime #industry #design #openAR #openRemote #openZero The Oslo School of Architecture and Design https://lnkd.in/ds6f8yKW

Surviving Means No Combustion 🔥🌍 – by Werner Sobek For Werner Sobek, the path to a sustainable future demands bold decisions. He challenges us to confront the trade-offs between preserving polluting industries and protecting the planet. The question is not just about energy but about emissions, and addressing this means rethinking industries, livelihoods, and economic priorities. Sobek urges us to tackle this complex issue with urgency, despite the financial and systemic forces resisting change. ▶️ Werner Sobek shared this perspective at our Hamburg event. Watch his full talk on our website under “Archive” https://lnkd.in/dt-t_uD6. Comment or DM us if you need help finding the video link!
