WE ARE CREATING A CULTURE OF OWNERSHIP USOLMT is committed to creating a culture of ownership in its Board of Directors and Membership Base. What this means is that each board member: • Understands that there is no designated “owner” of any nonprofit organization, and the founder is not the owner. • Nonprofit organizations are businesses who secure revenue, but that revenue is used and regulated differently than private businesses. • Board Members are in service to the business, but assume ownership of their role, responsibility, programs, and their own volunteer committees. • Board Member authority is limited to the authority granted in the Constitution and Bylaws of USOLMT. • Board members are required to execute their duties in good faith and in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and USOLMT codes, policies, and procedures. • Members have rights and the ability to take ownership in their association by volunteering their time, talent, and energy to programs and committees, will have the right to vote for their leadership, and have the right to attend all quarterly board meetings and be heard on the association’s decisions and direction.
