Cover reveal for book 4 in the JO JO MAKOONS chapter book series! JO JO MAKOONS: RULE SCHOOL, written by Dawn Quigley, Ph.D., illustrated by Tara Audibert (Heartdrum, Sept. 10, 2024). Ages 7-up. It is good to follow the rules. But there are just so many! In this fourth book in the beloved Jo Jo Makoons chapter book series, Jo Jo’s talents may not quite include following her substitute teacher’s rules… Jo Jo and her classmates are excited that the Elders’ Tribal Center has changed the rules for the talent show to invite the whole tribe to perform. But the rules have also changed in Jo Jo’s classroom, where instead of their teacher, they have a substitute. Since Jo Jo has a knack for being helpful, she puts her mind to helping her classmates decide on their talents—but can she manage to follow the substitute teacher’s rules? Even if no one else quite understands Jo Jo’s own rules (like that saying “please” makes words softer and fluffier to hear and that square foods are too pointy to be yummy), her undeniable talents for celebrating, curiosity, and class keep her happily hop-skipping in step with her Ojibwe community. Heartdrum is a Native-focused imprint of HarperCollins Publishers with We Need Diverse Books. #chapterbooksforkids #childrensbooks #childrensliterature #nativeamerican #firstnations #indigenous #bookseries #ojibwe #languagearts #socialstudies

What a great discovery in Cambodia! I am glad to create a rich print environment for my kids that is relevant to them, in their surroundings, and meaningful. Heartfelt thanks to #kirischweit for this incredible book titled “ABCs of Cambodia”. I constantly reflect on our approach to teaching letters and sounds. The first questions that come to mind are: Is this truly what the children need at this moment? How can I make it more meaningful for them so they can integrate it naturally? Are they feeling pressured to learn something before they're ready? What questions do you consider when teaching reading to your children?

Multiply Your Habits’ Outcomes #5amClubLifestyle #Post94 I started the habit of reading books around 15 months ago. Today, I felt proud when I saw Manan and Mahi, Instead of screening mobiles, they were carrying books. Developing any new habit requires consistency and time, But the compounded outcomes are multiplied. What about you? Which habit have you developed in 2024? #SunilMandowara

Impact requires consistent effort and passion. My greatest passion is advocating the power of reading and love for books. In that lies the true magic of unlocking potential and the empowerment of having choices. The concept of Read with a Beat, bringing Reading and Music together. Instilling a culture of reading one child, one school, one home, one community at a time. #SeedsofGrowth
