Primo Consulting & Advisory Professionals’ Post

On Thursday, 15 August 2024, the Nigeria Customs Service issued a press release communicating a new policy guideline aimed at implementing a Zero Duty Rate (0%) and Value Added Tax (VAT) exemption on selected basic food items. This policy guideline is aimed at reducing the prices of essential commodities, thereby alleviating the hardship being faced by Nigerians due to high prices of essential food items, addressing food security challenges, and ensuring that basic food items are accessible to all Nigerians.   This policy is effective from 15 July 2024 and will remain in force until 31 December 2024.
