#ICYMI Thriving Providers Project, a Home Grown initiative, in collaboration with Stanford Center on Early Childhood (SCEC) and Impact Charitable, released an 18-month Evaluation Report that provides information on the background and origin of the initiative, including the theory of impact, participant details, and findings for the full 18-months of TPP implementation in Colorado. I’ve just emerged from a great conversation held by Institute For Voluntary Action Research with civil society leaders. The crisis we are facing in my area is clearly felt everywhere. Stories of it never having been this bad – councils cutting services to the bone in the face of bankruptcy, demands on civil society going through the roof, civil society groups closing, funding systems breaking through too much demand, massive delays, some even closing. We urgently need a national plan for civil society renewal from the new government. We need the key bodies NCVO NAVCA Association of Charitable Foundations and others making an immediate case to tackle the severity of this crisis through significant investment. We neither need nor can we wait for any commissions or inquiries. We understand and see the issues on a daily basis. We need independent trusts & foundations to spend their endowments & recognise that their work to achieve change needs to start with the reality in local communities – what they need, what are their priorities & frames. Transformation will start through grassroots action connected at scale to achieve big shifts. Urgent investment in local place with monies held by local communities.

Eastern & Central Community Trust (ECCT) and Hawke’s Bay Foundation join forces to sustainably grow Hawke's Bay's funding capacity. As two of Hawke's Bay's major funders, we are proud to announce our alliance with Eastern & Central Community Trust , whereby we will share resources, knowledge and on the ground community connections - further deepening our commitment to building greater equity, better health and well-being, and stronger more resilient communities. This collaboration sees operational funding assistance of $50 thousand per year from ECCT over the next three years, and in return Hawke’s Bay Foundation will provide on the ground support in Wairoa and share expert sector knowledge. As David Clapperton from ECCT says, “The philanthropic sector is not a competitive environment. Why shouldn’t we share resources, our knowledge, our connections, and our systems to allow a greater focus on those organisations on the ground supporting the delivery of services to our communities. “I strongly believe that collaboration amongst funders, both government and philanthropic, is the only way we will see transformational change in the communities we serve. Funders working in silos is untenable and unsustainable. If you don't know Zoila Jennings you are missing out. Excited to share this conversation with her on "Off the Cuff" this morning where she gets into why she does what she does as an impact officer. Liberation theology, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and "CDFIs as an asset class" are all topics we dove into. My colleagues in the #publicfinance space may want to take note: "A lot of people hear health and they think healthcare but health outcomes are actually not solely driven by healthcare. We've learned that only about 20% of health outcomes are driven by clinical care of health care. The rest, 80%, of those health outcomes, are actually driven by social, environmental and economic factors, so we are talking about housing and we are talking about jobs. So we've been exploring investments around those social determinants of health and when we think about who finances public infrastructure, it is really government agencies.
