👀 To scale our WindFloat® technology for commercial deployment, we need sealing solutions for various hull penetrations. Standardized solutions enable reliability and efficiency at scale, but accommodating various sealing products with multiple configurations and sizes is a challenge. We collaborated with Roxtec Group, internationally recognized sealing specialists, to select sealing products that strike the right balance between standardization and meeting the individual needs of each cable within the same penetration. Their solutions were successfully implemented in the WindFloat Atlantic project, providing Principle Power with a library of options ready for deployment. “Applying standardized solutions that are readily available in the industry has proven to be successful for WindFloat Atlantic. This type of sealing solutions will be instrumental for upcoming projects as we optimize technology for commercial scale and aim to deliver reliable, cost-competitive solutions to project developers,” says Seth Price, P.E., our Vice President of Technology and Innovation. CB&I and Hanwha Ocean Receive Approval for Cargo Containment System and Ship Design for Liquid Hydrogen Carriers from DNV CB&I, a subsidiary of McDermott International, Ltd and world-class shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean have achieved a significant milestone by receiving Approval in Principle (AiP) from DNV for the design of a cargo containment system and an 80,000 m3 liquid hydrogen (LH2) carrier. This approval, formalized at the Gastech Exhibition & Conference in Houston, underscores the safety and compliance of the design with global standards, including the IGC Code and IMO’s recommendations for liquefied hydrogen transport. The collaboration between CB&I and Hanwha Ocean combines expertise in storage systems and gas carrier design, creating a safe and efficient LH2 carrier with a boil-off rate of just 0.05% per day. This breakthrough supports the development of global hydrogen supply chains. DNV’s involvement highlights the technical maturity of the project, reinforcing the vision of hydrogen as the future medium of renewable energy. #LiquidHydrogen #SustainableShipping #EnergyTransition #Hydrogen

GE Vernova announced their findings on the blade failure at Vineyard Wind. Seems the more unlikely scenario is the right one. And that would be? A "manufacturing deviation", specifically tied to material bonding. All eyes are now on quality control. Though very rare, blade failures are disruptive and must be minimized. https://lnkd.in/ebU7f3aC #offshorewind #manufacturing #windblades #windturbines

This #vessel is said to be the first of its kind to perform heavy #construction work in both #offshorewind and #subsea arenas with #netzero emissions. “This project showcases that we are ready to take #zeroemission #offshore operations one step further. The vessel will not only be #methanol ready – it will run on #greenfuels. The way it is designed, and its innovative technology will provide us with flexibility and efficiency as well as high redundancy. We anticipate significant improvements in energy consumption as well as a reduction in operational costs, while also contributing to a greener future for the maritime sector. Increased #battery capacity is needed to optimize the system. When using an alternative fuel such as methanol, batteries play an even more important role as the response time for dual-fuel engines is slow,” explained Ronny Pål Kvalsvik, Chief Commercial Officer at Rem Offshore. #energy #offshoreenergy #decarbonization #emissionsreduction #energytransition #methanolready #shipbuilding Corvus Energy https://buff.ly/3UKe2Yb
