drupa – no. 1 for printing technologies and North American show PRINTING United Expo have announced a strategic partnership – although details about what this will actually involve are currently thin on the ground. In an announcement made at Drupa, the trade fair organisers said the partnership would “bolster the reach of each brand throughout the industry”. Drupa director Sabine Geldermann said that Printing United Expo’s “one-roof approach” aligned with Drupa’s own ethos over the past 70 years, “showcasing the many applications printing technology has these days, not only in the graphic arts field but in packaging, industrial and textile is what our attendees appreciate”. Printing United Alliance CEO Ford Bowers commented: “Together, we will be able to deliver even more opportunities for growth and collaboration to all who participate in the marketplace of events.” The expo organisers said more details would be forthcoming as the partnership took shape. Printing United Expo takes place in Las Vegas this year, and runs from 10-12 September. Epson is adding two new 64-inch (1.63m) dye-sub printers to its European portfolio. The SureColor F9500 and SureColor F9500H models will replace the SureColor F9400 and SC-F9400H, offering significant enhancements in productivity, usability, and image quality according to the manufacturer. Both available from October, the printers are said to offer a compact, space-saving design, reducing height by over 300mm compared to their predecessors and enabling installation in height-restrictive spaces. A 4.3-inch touchscreen with a tilt function displays current printer status, including ink levels and media settings, while the machines achieve “significant productivity gains” with the inclusion of a new, larger PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead, increasing productivity by up to 30% in four-colour mode. Tradeshows. Who doesn’t love a good tradeshow….Especially when they’re in Las Vegas, USA. This year’s PRINTING United Expo showcased the best of the best in printing equipment technology, materials, finishing equipment technologies, colour software and more.    Tradeshows are a way to stay current, understand where the industry is moving and what useful technologies are being applied to the equipment we use day to day.    We showed up and apparently the rest of the industry did as well in beautiful Las Vegas. It’s nice to see our thriving industry supported by equipment manufacturers pushing technological boundaries year after year.    No surprise that both our favourite manufacturers Agfa Inkjet Solutions and Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems were at the show in a big way. Both companies stole the floor with their sheer presence and their investment in technology on display for the world to see.    Check out Godin Productions Ltd. very own JETI TAURO H3300 UHS LED on display at the show dominating roll-to-roll throughput. Drupa will be different, but it will be Drupa!  The countdown to Drupa has crossed the 100-day mark. After a false start in 2020, everything is set fair for a welcome return of the leading trade show in the printing industry. It may no longer be the best attended, some of the shows in China can count on huge numbers, but Drupa remains the exhibition where the major technology introductions are made. Even in a period where few manufacturers can afford to sit until Drupa, or even want to, there will be new developments to see in Dusseldorf.
