Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has revealed a plan to allocate plots to 3,200 journalists in Lahore, underscoring that this initiative serves as a rightful entitlement for journalists rather than a special favor. This move is part of a broader effort to acknowledge the role and dedication of media professionals. To expedite the process, directives have been issued to initiate Journalist Colony Lahore Phase 2. Authorities have been instructed to take swift steps in setting up this new phase, ensuring that the groundwork is laid for an effective allocation process. An official advertisement inviting applications for these plots will be published soon, enabling eligible journalists to apply. The criteria for allotment will be transparent, adhering to merit-based standards and legal guidelines to ensure fair distribution. This development reflects a commitment to supporting journalists by providing stable and permanent housing options in Lahore, ultimately recognizing their contributions and sacrifices. . . . #PunjabGovernment #MaryamNawaz #JournalistRights #LahoreHousing #MediaSupport #PlotAllocation #JournalistColony #MeritBasedAllotment #PublicAnnouncement #JournalismCommunity #Tribunetrends

ILR Islamabad --- Preamble of an Act --- Interpretation of the Statute: Although the preamble is not a substantive part of the Statute, the general rule is that the express provision of an enactment, if clear and unambiguous, cannot be curtailed or extended with the aid of the preamble. But when the object or meaning of a certain provision is not clear then it is perfectly legitimate to have recourse to the preamble to explain it. What Pakistan Needs is Decentralisation What happens when you have a lot of money and less time? You like to make big decisions. That's exactly what our Federal and Provincial governments do. That's what all bureaucracies do. They like to accumulate power. Because power means resources and privileges. What Pakistan should do, rationally, is let a 100 cities act independently. Democracy is not about elections - it is about being able to influence decisions that affect us. Which schools, playgrounds, roads and hospitals to build. How to clean up our streets. How to take care of our environment. How to police our neighbourhoods. These are all the decisions that affect us directly - they should be in our control and not decided by ministers and bureaucrats in Lahore or Karachi or Peshawar or Quetta or Islamabad. As citizens, this should be our big demand: give power to the cities, give power to the people.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Secretary-General Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has issued a stern warning to the government, threatening a march on Islamabad if the Societies Registration (Amendment) Act, 2024, concerning madrassa registration, is not approved by December 7. Speaking to journalists in Lahore, Haideri expressed concern over the government's "ill intentions" and urged immediate action to avoid unrest. He emphasized that while JUI-F prefers dialogue, it would be compelled to act if its demands are ignored. The Societies Registration (Amendment) Act, passed by both the National Assembly and Senate in October, is a key part of an agreement between the government and JUI-F in support of the 26th Amendment. However, the delay in its enactment has sparked tensions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured JUI-F Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a telephonic conversation that the concerns surrounding the bill would be addressed. Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also promised to discuss the issue with his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, who has yet to sign the bill. JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah criticized the government's reluctance and called on Bilawal to ensure the matter is resolved, warning that Fazlur Rehman would announce a future course of action at a December 8 rally in Peshawar if the bill remains unsigned. #MadrassaBill #JUIF #PoliticalTension #PakistanPolitics #ReligiousFreedom #MadrassaRegistration

The attack on #RaoofHasan, the secretary information for #PTIofficial, in Islamabad today is truly shameful and condemnable. It shows how the establishment and Pakistan govt are #ScaredOfPTI and its leadership under #ImranKhan. Despite the fact that the majority of the public supports PTI, the attack on its leadership is a blatant attempt to silence dissent. This incident must be condemned by human rights organizations like #amnesty and #humanrightswatch, UN agencies like #unitednationshumanrights, and the #bidenadministration. Pakistan has become a country where poets are #AbductedForSpeakingTruth, journalists are #KilledForExposingReality, and PTI supporters are #HarassedByState and #MolestedByAgencies. It is time for the international community to take notice and hold the Pakistani government accountable for this #BrutalCrackdownOnDissent and #SuppresssionOfFreedom. The voices of the people must be heard, and their democratic rights must be protected. #DemocracyUnderAttack #PakistanCivilLiberties Amnesty International World HUmanRight Unitednations secretarygeneral BBC News
