During my accounting internship at LipGloss for Love, Inc., I achieved a significant milestone by gaining substantial knowledge and valuable hands-on experience that significantly deepened my understanding of accounting. This accomplishment, under the supervision of Mrs. Verenia Hatch, allowed me to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical application, becoming proficient in accounting software such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks. I improved my technical skills in bookkeeping and managing accounts receivable/payable. I prepared financial reports and increased my productivity and accuracy in handling financial data. As an intern, my daily accounts receivable/payables involved processing invoices, recording payments, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies. I ensured accurate data entry and maintained organized records, improving my attention to detail and organization skills. I could compare bank statements with internal records by verifying transactions, identifying discrepancies, and creating adjusted entries. This routine enhanced my analytical skills, attention to detail, and understanding of financial integrity. Additionally, I gained a deep understanding of the internal controls and compliance requirements necessary for accurate financial reporting. This included participating in audit processes, where I learned to assess the integrity of financial information, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions. Through this internship, I gained valuable insights into financial analysis and budgeting. For instance, I was also involved in preparing budget forecasts for the organization's therapeutic/ social program, which taught me how to present financial information clearly and concisely to support strategic decision-making. In conclusion, my accounting internship was a transformative experience that significantly enhanced my technical skills, professional practices, and understanding of accounting concepts. I now possess the skills necessary to excel in an accounting career, thanks to practical experience, mentoring, and teamwork. This internship improved my technical skills and instilled a sense of professionalism and ethical responsibility that will guide me in all my future endeavors. The internship also offered me opportunities for professional development through networking and mentorship. Interacting with experienced accountants allowed me to gain diverse perspectives on career paths and industry trends. #UTDaccountininterns #lipglossforlove

Hi network, I am pleased to announce the completion of my two week internship with the Oxford Vintage Ltd and Majestic Retail Ltd bookkeeping/accounts team. I spent the past two weeks learning how to manage accounts for high branded enterprises and also learned how to build communication skills with other members of the team in order to work together and complete tasks we were faced with. During the first week I was spectating how the team uses apps such as Dext and Xero to upload and publish proformas and invoices for the stores which they work with. Through this phase of the internship I learned that there are many skills needed in this line of work such as: 1. Having good communication with all suppliers and building relationships which could be used to the businesses advantage in any future circumstances. 2. Being consice and clear, it is important to ensure that you are very clear when communicating with both your own team but also with any suppliers as a small mistake could lead to marginal errrors. 3. Paying full attention/looking out for small details is crucial in the field of accountancy as the work can become repetitive but it is important to ensure you are always submitting the right information. After learning all this I had to use the skills I learned in the second week to upload and publish invoices and proformas while also ensuring that the tables and accounts were organised for anyone of a superior role to check and use at anytime. To conclude the two weeks of experience was extremely helpful for building many skills and was an experience to never forget!
