📢 There's still time to book onto this #RethinkingCataloguing discussion with Sian Woodward, which will focus on cataloguing in the context of institutional memory (or forgetfulness). ✍ What is institutional memory and where is it found inside or outside your organisation – e.g. history books, Wikipedia pages, trustee minutes, exhibition files, staff memories? How can it help us understand collections and catalogue them better? How does institutional forgetfulness, for example as staff leave, impact this? What can we do to address these issues in the future? Join us to discuss these questions. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e53u22A5 #Museums #MuseumDocumentation #Event

Good read
Now available: Indigenous Ally Museum Practitioner Toolkit by Jenn Edginton, Ed.D. The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience has published Edginton’s toolkit on museum allyship with Indigenous communities on their website. Jenn Edginton, Interim Director at the Illinois State Museum, launched this toolkit alongside her dissertation, “Adversaries into Allies: A Call to Action for Turning Settler Colonial Museums into Indigenized Spaces.” The toolkit encourages users to engage in a self-reflective, critical exploration of museum accountability and advocacy in decolonization work that is based on a qualitative research study Edginton conducted. You can read more and download the toolkit here: https://lnkd.in/e7JZPnRB #ncph #publichistory #publichistorians #museums #indigenoushistory
