Harnessing the Power of Data and AI: Insights from the 12th FFI Seminar Earlier this October, the 12th FFI Seminar (Fachverband Faltschachtel-Industrie E.V.) brought together thirty participants from member and associate companies to explore “Innovative Use of Data and AI – New Opportunities in Controlling.” Four esteemed speakers delivered expert insights on how companies can leverage AI and data to optimize their processes. 🔹 Christian Leuthner, Partner at Reed Smith LLP, kicked off the event with a talk on the practical applications of AI in business and its legal implications. He emphasized the importance of selecting and defining the purpose of AI and software tools in the face of rapid technological advancements. 🔹 Dr. Susanne Beckers, AI Strategy Expert at SAP, demonstrated how AI can integrate and analyze internal and external company data for more efficient controlling. Automating time-consuming data analyses could save up to 50% of time, allowing controllers to focus on more value-added activities. However, she stressed the importance of always reviewing AI-generated results. 🔹 Frank Hiller, Business Process Manager at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, showcased the role of AI in printing machinery, highlighting the benefits of switching from traditional reporting methods to AI-driven predictive supply chain management. 🔹 Closing the seminar, Franz Steuer, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH, presented a live demonstration on how external data from public sources like the Bundesanzeiger can be analyzed in minutes using AI-based tools to generate decision-making reports. In the final discussion, all speakers agreed: AI is indispensable in today’s business landscape. Companies must actively engage with AI to remain competitive. The seminar also provided ample opportunities for networking and in-depth discussions, both during and after the presentations, underscoring the value of exchanging knowledge within the industry. #AI #DataInnovation #Sustainability #Controlling #FoldingCartons #FFI

Improving Supply Chain Planning & Forecasting with Technology & Benchmarking 📈 Leveraging technology and benchmarking improves supply chain planning and forecasting, enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and cost reduction. This scientific approach optimizes inventory management and reduces lead times. Benchmarking Steps: Identify Key Metrics: Select relevant metrics (e.g., inventory turnover, lead time, order fulfillment rate) for benchmarking. Select Best-in-Class: Research and identify companies excelling in these metrics. Analyze Best Practices: Study their processes, technologies (e.g., SAP, TMS Blue Yonder), and data analysis methods (e.g., using Power BI for visualization). Implement & Adapt: Adapt successful practices to your organization, leveraging AI, Machine Learning (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for predictive analytics and optimization. Combining Planning, Forecasting, and Benchmarking: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This combination delivers significant value by improving forecasting accuracy, optimizing inventory levels, and reducing waste, aligning with sustainable practices. This approach reduces operational costs and enhances responsiveness to market demands. #SupplyChainOptimization #PredictiveAnalytics #Benchmarking #Logistics #Innovation 🚚🚀 https://lnkd.in/e6bZd3eY

Welcome to our first case in the 💥 𝐀𝐈 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 💥 series, where we separate AI facts from fiction! 🕵🏻🔎 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞: A supplier issues an invoice that lists prices per 1,000 units for a SKU, along with listed surcharges (e.g., energy, setup, handling waste). The extracted price of a SKU does not match the one in the ERP system. Can you extract and calculate the total price of a SKU? 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐀𝐈: Can help with accurate data extraction but struggles with mathematical calculations. Fabrication shops are drowning in data. With orders flooding in and parts moving through the shop, it's a constant struggle to track jobs, ensure quality, and get accurate costing. The result? Low margins, late deliveries, and frustrated customers. But what if AI could help? Imagine an intelligent system that tracks each job in real-time, identifies bottlenecks before they happen, and provides accurate cost estimates. Fabricators could optimize workflow, reduce delays, and boost profitability. The future is here! Leading fabricators are now using AI and advanced analytics to transform their business. Rather than relying on gut feel and spreadsheets, they leverage predictive insights to streamline operations. The impact is game-changing. Flow from order to cash improves dramatically, on-time delivery nears 100%, and margins expand. It's a whole new ballgame. The bottom line? AI delivers the visibility and intelligence fabricators need to work smarter. As one manager put it, "We struggled in the past but now have the data to make proactive decisions. Our shop is leaner and more profitable than ever." The fabrication industry is being reinvented before our eyes thanks to AI. The future looks bright for shops who embrace it. https://lnkd.in/g5bYqHB2 #ERP, #manufacturing, #machineshop, #jobshop, #fabricators, #jobboss2, #jobcosting, #AI, #artificialintelligence

In Cleveland to speak at two events, including the Print Smart Summit & the Premier Printers Network! I’ve been asked to share on the impact of AI on the print industry. Along with speakers from Marketing AI Institute, IBM, Google, and Pandata, I’ll share a few of the critical ways AI is changing print. My goal is to bring a macro view of where the world is headed, but also ground the discussion in practical, real-world applications that everyone in the audience can relate to. I’m going to show numerous use-cases and examples, with a particular focus on direct mail. I’m sure some will disagree with me around where this is all headed (hint: it may not be what you think). I welcome that. No one knows for sure where this is headed. But there are some pretty clear signs. And I think anyone who chooses to ignore the seismic shift will at some point wake up sorry. But it’s not too late: We’re still early in the game, and there’s a real opportunity for print companies to have a first-mover advantage … especially because so many are scared sh*tless about what AI will do to their jobs. I get it. That fear is real. And the threat is even more real. But instead of putting our heads in the sand, I think a grounded, rationale conversation is what’s required. And that’s what I am to do! Oh, and I’ve got plenty of dad jokes lined up, too 🤣 If you’re in the area I’d love to have you stop by the event. If not, let’s talk AI + Direct Mail / Print. What do you think the impact will be? What are you scared of? What are you excited for?? Let's talk! ⤵

I wanted to showcase what we've been cooking 👨🍳 up at PackageX since I joined back in February! For all my software, logistics and retail folks, you MUST become aware of the term: "OCR-Scanning". Why you may ask? It's evident most businesses are trying to do more with less given the current environment. OCR-Scanning helps businesses save on costs, increase efficiency, and workforce effectiveness. Optical character recognition (OCR), also known as text recognition, is a technology that converts images of typed, handwritten, or printed text into an editable and searchable format on a computer. In the context of supply chain across logistics & retail, OCR-Scanning offers significant benefits. OCR eliminates the need for manual data capture by converting text from any paper documents, such as invoices, shipping labels, receipts etc. into digital characters that are captured & integrated into your WMS, OMS, IMS, BMS, or backend systems. This not only helps maintain accurate and up-to-date records but also enhances supply chain visibility and traceability, thereby improving decision-making with reliable data. We see improvement across different facility types whether it be a mailroom, warehouse, store or any place that receives inventory. At PackageX, we are reimagining the receiving process with our AI powered OCR Scanning and seamless workflows, empowering logistics companies to unlock hidden productivity. Check out the blog post below for more info on OCR Scanning! We have a lot cooking up so I'll be sure to share more soon... 👀 https://lnkd.in/gZf2WB-X #OCR #AI #Logistics #Receiving #SupplyChain
