Earth Day celebrations! For those who don't know the history; Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. 🌏 The idea for Earth Day came about when US Senator Gaylord Nelson witnessed the effect of the Santa Barbara oil spill in 1969. At the time, the Santa Barbara oil spill was the largest disaster of its kind in American history. Within a ten-day period, an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 barrels of crude oil spilled into the Channel, and onto the beaches of Santa Barbara County in Southern California. 🌏 Earth Day 2024 celebrations worldwide aim to utilise educational programmes which will inform people about how they can protect the environment, and look after the world’s natural resources. Previously, Australia focused on the Great Barrier Reef and raised awareness of the mass coral bleaching - a result of rising sea temperatures. Bleaching events were organised in an effort to significantly reduce the damage caused, which is a direct result of climate change. In Australia, Earth Day 2024 will be observed to raise awareness of global climate change as people come together to act to save Mother Earth! Earth Day highlights the current global threats facing our planet and to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. 🌏 You may know we donate $1 of every purchase to Rewild Australia & Literacy Australia, we have now added Seabin Foundation to the 3 choices you have at the shopping cart to donate to. From Seabin Foundation: Harmony between the natural world and the next generation is our main driving force at the Seabin Foundation. They focus on solutions, to make sure ocean health is well understood, reported on, and prioritised. Capturing, quantifying, and cataloguing plastics caught in Seabins, is key to coordinating change and identifying trends. Enabling ongoing monitoring of waterways pollutants and plastics is the first step to guide efficiently our actions to turn off the tap and support the ocean's health. For 24hours we are doubling our $1 donation to $2 with every purchase made at Mayella - where Mother Nature is our love and inspiration for everything you find at mayellaorganic com ! > https://lnkd.in/gh__FwWz #earthday #earthfocus #seabin #makeadifference #donation #femalefounded #familybusiness #earthday2024 #mothernature #bethechange #mayellaorganics

It's not lost on us that effectively reaching supporters – spreading the word about and seeking support for important nonprofit work – requires paper. Here at New River, we seek to balance that resource consumption by protecting and helping renew our planet’s precious resources. We try to do our part by implementing sustainable business practices, and by advocating for and supporting environmental causes. Through The Nature Conservancy’s Plant A Billion program, for example, New River plants a tree for every direct mail job we produce for clients. Plant a Billion projects in the U.S. and around the world are rejuvenating iconic forests in key locations. The Nature Conservancy is making sure every dollar donated helps to revive healthy forest habitat in two ways: planting tree seedlings in highly degraded areas and by assisting in the natural regeneration of the forest by removing barriers to the forest’s ability to heal itself. https://lnkd.in/epnkbJv #ArborDay #PlantATree #Nonprofits

I often find myself talking about upskilling our way to a sustainable society, of inner development, shifting mindsets, even changing consciousness. But what are ‘green’ skills exactly? 🌱 If anything, the greenest skills are not the ones that will sustain society but ones already being used to steward and restore nature. Skills we will need in abundance to undo the damage if we enter a +2C world, and skills which we already have to put to action now. 📖 The global literacy rate stands at 87%. Imagine what we could do with nearly 7 million nature restorers - in the cities, fields and forests. 🦄 That’s the future that Christabel Reed and Ruby Reed have set out to enable with their nature skills community Earthed. 📱 Check it out here: https://www.earthed.co/ 💚 Consider donating here: https://lnkd.in/e7dD8zvj #Regeneration #Greenskills #Natureskills #Sustainability
CoFounder of Earthed & Advaya 🌍 Removing the obstacles to a citizen-led global nature restoration movement | Expanding consciousness for systemic transformation within and without ✨
🌍 Imagine a world where anyone, anywhere, can restore nature and build resilient communities. At Earthed, that’s exactly what we’re working to make a reality. In just 18 months, we’ve made incredible progress since launch, reaching over 10,000 members across 102 countries, thanks to the support of our Teachers, Giving Circle, Founding Partners, and our inspiring community of members. Today, we’re excited (and a bit nervous) to launch our crowdfunder to raise £30,000—a crucial step in scaling our impact. Your support will help us continue to upskill everyday people, transforming them into ecological citizens and nature guardians. With this support we can continue to keep the platform open-access and release courses on regenerative agriculture, water restoration, food forests, planting for pollinators and indigenous land stewardship. These courses are produced but needing final resources to be released 💫 Together, we can unlock humanity’s readiness to act and remove the obstacles to real, tangible change. 🌱 Join us. Donate. Share. Be part of the movement. Today, you can double your impact with a tax-time gift and give nature a legal voice! Nature needs us now more than ever. In Australia, more than 2000 species and ecosystems are threatened with extinction. We need to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions to avoid dangerous climate change, yet 29 new coal mines are on the table or approved already in Australia. The law is one of the most powerful tools we have to fight the climate and extinction crises. But we need you on our side, and today you can double your impact. Turn your $50 gift into $100, $150 into $300, or $500 into $1000. Gifts up to $1000 will be matched by one of EDO’s dedicated supporters, the Sisyphus Foundation. The Foundation are offering to match donations up to a total of $40,000 in memory of its founder, Jeremy Davis, who recognised EDO’s vital role in safeguarding Australia’s natural heritage for generations to come. We’d like to thank the Sisyphus Foundation and Jeremy’s family for their ongoing commitment to a world where nature thrives. Make your tax-time gift count and give wildlife and nature a legal voice today. With the end of financial year just three days away, now is a great time to give. By donating today, you are helping to use the law to defend our most precious places and wildlife from destruction.

You could argue that the ocean's a bit overlooked in its role in restoring the health of our planet. But one thing we can't ignore is the amount of crap that's dumped into it and the resulting consequences that are bubbling away... If you're unconvinced, here are some stats that might make you see things differently (you can't understand the restraint it took not to make an awful 'sea' pun here): 🐟 Plastic in the ocean is expected to outweigh fish by 2050. Gross. 🩸 77% of EU citizens have microplastics in their blood due - predominantly - to plastic pollution in our water. Grosser. 🌊 The ocean locks away almost 30% of all CO₂ emissions from human activities. For reasons I can't get into in an algorithmically-friendly LinkedIn post length, the impact of plastic is putting this amazing carbon capture force at risk. Gross-est. BUT. Here's the good bit... we can still fix things. For Notpla, the at-risk ocean also holds the key to turning things around thanks to one of it's main inhabitants - seaweed. Here's why we love working with seaweed to replace plastics at scale: 🪸 Doesn't compete with food crops for land 🪸 Doesn't need freshwater or fertiliser 🪸 De-acidifies the ocean 🪸 Uplifts coastal communities 🪸 Actively sequesters CO₂ 🪸 Abundant - only 0.06 of the total ocean space is required to replace ALL single-use plastics If that's not enough to get you hooked on the ocean, too - maybe some of the inspiring people below will help. It was lovely to speak to Bonnie Middleton and the lush team at Enviral recently to share another perspective on what #WorldOceanDay really means. #Sustainability #PlasticFree #SustainablePackaging

🔥 We're supporting One Tree Planted in its mission to restore lands that have been degraded by Forest Fires. As climate change continues to worsen, the world's forests are seeing more intense fires. These fires are increasing in both size and intensity every year, damaging vital ecosystems. With so many forests being lost in this way, reforestation is essential for the environmental recovery process. For every placement we make, we donate to One Tree Planted. This is just one of the ways we're doing our bit to create a sustainable future. You'll find more on this great project and details on how you can make a donation here: To find out more about this great project, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/d4xqjCC. #onetreeplanted #sustainability #reforestation #future

Wow - you’ve helped us raise an incredible £26,000 in just 2 weeks! Thanks to your support, we are well on our way to getting the first trees in the ground at Lower Chew Forest before Christmas. 👏💚 Lower Chew Forest will be the largest new woodland in the south west for a generation. It’s a vision with plenty of space for trees and shrubs - in fact we’ve planned for 100,000 of them. This number of native trees, established in appropriate sites chosen by experts, has huge potential for nature, people and the planet. 🌳 But this project goes far beyond simply planting trees. Across this landscape, we intend to integrate miles of nature rich hedgerow, rolling grasslands and precious wetlands to maximise the power of this unique opportunity. Each week of our campaign, we’re revealing more about our plans for Lower Chew Forest and the amazing benefits it will bring for our region. This week, we turn our attention to wonderful wetland habitats. 🐟🌊 Stay tuned for more updates! In the meantime, please keep donating and sharing our crowdfunder to help make this incredible woodland a reality. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecuMnWgf #AvonNeedsTrees #LowerChewForest #TreePlanting #ClimateAction #WoodlandCreation #HabitatCreation #Wetlands #Biodiversity #TreeForClimate #NatureRecovery #NatureRestoration #Bristol #Bath

Celebrating this beautiful, mysterious, and wonderful planet this Earth Day! As the only registered forester on staff, and likely the only registered forester in all of mid-rev cycle, I will take any chance I can to talk about plants! The first value, the original value, and the lifeblood of Norwood is “Deep Roots, Strong Connections”. A forest ecosystem is importantly linked to microbiota, fungi, and other biotic and abiotic factors beneath the soil. Much of the time, sick looking leaves are actually indicators of invisible root problems beneath the soil. In the mid-revenue cycle, there are similar indicators that can stay hidden until they adversely influence revenue and, more importantly, quality of patient care. Our team is capable of doing full-revenue cycle assessments, provider education, managed services, and much more. Connect with me, mid-revenue’s only registered forester, and I’ll show you how strong roots and deep connections are the lifeblood of the Norwood difference and how Norwood can deliver health to your hospital’s bottom line.
We're thrilled to announce our partnership with One Tree Planted as part of our commitment to environmental sustainability! This Earth Day, Norwood donated a tree for each one of our consultants and employees, contributing to the global effort of reforestation. At Norwood, we believe in the power of nature and the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. That's why we're proud to support One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Our donation not only helps replenish forests, but also aligns with one of our core values, "Unique Trees, One Forest." We recognize that every tree planted contributes to the greater good, creating a diverse and thriving ecosystem that benefits nature, people, and wildlife alike. By partnering with One Tree Planted, we're not only making a positive impact on the environment but also empowering local communities and environmental organizations worldwide. Together, we're creating a greener, healthier planet for all. Learn more about One Tree Planted and join us in our mission to protect and preserve our precious natural resources at onetreeplanted.org. Now, we want to hear from you! What actions are you taking to celebrate Earth Day and contribute to a more sustainable future? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 🌍 #Norwood #OneTreePlanted #EarthDay
