🎊 I’m excited to announce that I recently completed a data analysis project assigned by Kanav Bansal Sir, exploring the employment outcomes of engineering graduates. In this project, I conducted a thorough analysis of a dataset containing employment outcomes for engineering graduates. The process involved multiple steps from start to finish: 🔳 Data Cleaning: I began by cleaning the dataset, addressing missing values, handling inconsistent data (like job city names), and formatting columns such as dates and salary values. ⚫ Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): I used various data visualization tools to understand the distributions of salary, academic performance, and personality traits. I also explored relationships between salary and educational background, gender, and job cities. 🔳Bivariate Analysis: I examined the relationship between different variables such as salary vs. college GPA and conducted statistical tests to identify significant patterns. ⚫ Location and Gender Insights: I analyzed the geographical distribution of jobs, identifying key cities like Bangalore, Chennai, and Gurgaon as engineering hubs. Additionally, I explored gender imbalances and their potential impact on salary. Conclusions and Research Questions : Finally, I developed conclusions and raised interesting research questions about gender pay gaps, the influence of personality traits on career success, and regional salary. Wow. But where is my job offer? When is my interview? When am I supposed to send my resume? We often come across these types of statistics in LinkedIn , and end up being happy and proud of ourselves that "Wow, I am gaining attention from companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft". But that's not enough. Companies show many success stories of recruiting absolute freshers and turning them into a mega talented smart employee. But I personally have never come across any such opportunities, in spite of deserving the opportunity to be one. Why? Because firstly they check your profile, then your college, then experience and then resume and then for a change ask about availability to fill applications and then no response. According to me, only 199 programming skills, 'n' number of leet codes, and endless coding-debugging strict assessments will not show the capability and confidence of that one perfect candidate who may not have enough skills but will be super excited, eager, enthusiastic, adept and dedicated professional that every company needs, because nobody can rely upon 1-2 coding skills and product methodologies, as every day a new technology is invented, implemented, and introduced with many improvisations. So while recruiting a company should aim for a GOOD and CONFIDENT employee who is a QUICK LEARNER AND EFFICIENT IMPLEMENTER, RATHER THAN A ROBO HUMAN who can sit and write codes. Even if a few dollars are spent on visa, it won't be regretted, because the return of investment on the particular employee will be a 100x of what is invested on them. This is a corporate lesson as well. My view is - Moving Forward with Caution: Addressing Gaps to Avoid Failure In the fast-paced corporate world, organizations often focus on driving ahead, pushing for growth, innovation, and new milestones. However, like a truck speeding on a broken road, if we ignore the cracks behind us—the unresolved issues, mistakes, or misalignments—we risk the entire journey falling apart. Imagine this truck loaded with valuable cargo, speeding ahead on a journey. The truck represents our organization, and the cargo symbolizes our goals, targets, and ambitions. The road symbolizes the foundation of our processes, culture, and operational integrity. As the truck moves ahead, the driver (leadership or the team) notices cracks in the road. These cracks could be: • Unaddressed mistakes from past projects, • Gaps in communication between departments, • Inefficiencies in processes, or • Misaligned strategies. Instead of pausing to fix the road or strategize a way around the cracks, the driver keeps moving, believing speed will help overcome the gaps. Eventually, as the truck pushes forward, the cracks widen, and the truck begins to falter—potentially tipping over, losing its cargo, and failing to complete its journey. Corporate Implication: This analogy directly applies to our corporate environment. Moving ahead without addressing the mess or gaps left behind can lead to costly failures: 1. Short-term Wins, Long-term Losses: In the rush to achieve results, unresolved problems can snowball, eventually causing much bigger setbacks than anticipated. 2. Lack of Accountability: If someone creates a mess, ignoring it instead of fixing it sends a message of tolerance for inefficiency and negligence. This erodes the trust within teams and leads to recurring mistakes. 3. Systemic Failures: Issues left unchecked grow into systemic challenges, making it harder to identify the root cause when something goes wrong. 4. Lost Opportunity for Learning: Mistakes provide invaluable lessons. Moving Forward with Balance: To avoid the fate of the truck, organizations must balance progress with reflection. Here’s how we can ensure that: • Stop and Assess: Regularly pause to assess the progress, identify areas of concern, and address underlying issues. • Accountability and Transparency: Encourage a culture where people are held accountable for their actions. Create transparent systems to address and correct mistakes early. • Continuous Improvement: Foster a mindset of continuous learning and improvement. Each roadblock or crack in the road should be viewed as an opportunity to refine our processes. • Strategic Pacing: Progress at a pace that allows for checking the stability of the foundation. Conclusion- This approach communicates that while it’s important to move forward, addressing past mistakes and ensuring a strong foundation is equally critical for long-term success.
