Certification Day on January 6, 2025, is expected to draw significant security challenges, with threats targeting the Capitol, government officials, and public events. Influenced by political tensions and historical precedents, these risks will likely require law enforcement to implement enhanced security protocols. Intelligence agencies should collaborate with social media platforms to counter extremist narratives and disinformation that could incite violence. Public cooperation with advisories and awareness of evacuation protocols will be essential to maintaining safety and order. #CertificationDay #USCapitol #PublicSafety #NationalSecurity #OSINT #Tuesday https://lnkd.in/gQe5NNxT

Insightful article on the practical complexities of the appointment of Jonathan Powell as a political NSA. It’s undoubtedly an adaptation challenge, but also a great opportunity for the Civil Service and incoming Cab Sec to reassess structures and senior roles at the centre to strengthen the co-ordination and delivery of national security priorities. https://lnkd.in/g_mSuc4e

The report from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is smart and critically-timed. Great work by Congressman James Comer, his colleagues, and the committee staff! The nature of the CCP is well captured in the report, as is how the CCP is on the hunt and the threat it presents to the United States, and the opportunities and imperative to counter it. With federal agencies currently not enforcing standing rules and robustly counter various threats from the CCP, and various sectors of society such as state and local government and academia defying directives and counsel from our national security and intelligence agencies, this will be a long and complex fight, but must be met head-on.
