In the present investigation, the impacts of antenna #field #of #view (#FOV) on the accuracy of #machine #learning (#ML) models utilized for the classification of various #unmanned #air #vehicle (#UAV) types were systematically explored using full-wave electromagnetic simulation software. Initially, similar to many state-of-the-art works, an ML algorithm was meticulously trained under a particular condition where the relative angle between the UAVs and the antenna was kept at 0°, yielding an accuracy of 96.5%. In contrast to the common practice, the trained ML model was subsequently subjected to testing at varied relative angles, spanning from 20° to 90°. Observational outcomes delineate a decrease in ML classification accuracy with an increase in the relative angle between UAVs and the antenna. Next, this study investigates the impact of utilizing #multiple-#input-#multiple-#output (#MIMO) radar system for classification. The results indicate enhancement of UAV detection and classification efficacy when contrasted with a #single-#input-#single-#output (#SISO) radar system, at 80°, an accuracy of 60% for the MIMO antenna compared to 13% for the SISO antenna. ---- Ahmed N. In this paper, the authors investigate the impact of 3D antenna patterns on a #unmanned #aerial #vehicle (#UAV) air-to-ground path loss model, utilizing datasets obtained from a measurement campaign. The authors conducted UAV experiments in a rural area at various fixed heights, while also characterizing the 3D antenna radiation pattern by using an anechoic chamber facility. Freeman Dyson, once delivered a lecture titled "Living Through Four Revolutions" in which he wisely stated that "... somewhere around the year 2000 there was this turning point, which is visible almost everywhere. Not only in science also in history, in all kinds of intellectual activities and practical activities. The year 2000 was essentially the time at which it became cheaper to collect information than to understand it! And so ever since then we've been drowning in the flood of information..." He then continued with an excerpt of a book that "..as human beings who are finite creatures that can feel and think, our function from this time onward is to create islands of meaning in the flood of information... and that is essentially our job!" Along the same lines and in an effort to leverage data, I encourage those interested to check the recent paper by my excellent Ph.D. student Yevhenii Kovryzhenko and collaborator Dr. Nan Li on the topic of #datadriven control for unmanned aerial vehicles. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of data-driven methods for the development of flight control of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). We synthesize robust control laws based on a matrix S-lemma approach. Its implementation is demonstrated on a six-degrees-of-freedom non-linear UAV system. This research contributes to bridging the gap between theoretical advancements in the field of data-driven control and tangible applications in the field of #UAV systems. This is a lightweight and compact #lens, while taking into account high-level infrared thermal imaging performance. The scope of application is the places that need to be monitored and the UAV payload. The control-free 0-second focus and large zoom ratio medium-wave infrared continuous zoom lens can realize the large-scale search of targets in a large field of view and the target identification and tracking in a small field of view. 🚀 Excited to share our latest publication: "Quantum-Position-Locked Loop: New Concept for Collaborative Beamforming for UAV Swarm" in IEEE Wireless Communications Letters! We introduce a novel quantum optimization method combining Grover's algorithm and Nelder-Mead for real-time UAV positioning and precise beamforming. Our approach demonstrates robust performance with high positional accuracy in UAV swarms, under significant engineering error tolerances. This work opens exciting opportunities in aerial communication infrastructures, enabling synchronized UAV swarms to perform high-precision tasks like distributed Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems. While many areas remain unexplored, we look forward to advancing this field further in collaboration with the broader community.
