Better than you found ‘em. Occasionally on a wet day, I’ll come across one of these big ol’ snapping turtles slowly attempting to cross the road beside a nearby pond. As you can imagine, they’re super-vulnerable to passing cars. So, despite those hazardous jaws, I always feel compelled to pull over and cautiously help them across to a safer spot. It takes a little extra time and a little extra effort, plus an increased heart rate. (If you’ve never been around one, they can be quite ornery)….but it always feels good to know that I might’ve made a difference for that one turtle. As leaders in business, we have a unique opportunity to be part of our customers’ journeys. Just like with the turtles, we should aim to always make a positive impact. Whether it’s through excellent service, helpful products, or meaningful interactions, let’s push to leave our customers better off than when they first encountered us. It’s not just about making a sale; it’s about making a positive difference from the time others spend with us or our service. If you (and importantly, your employees) leave everyone better off than when you found ‘em, they are gonna want to find you more often. Happy National Small Business Week!
