Why Project Phasor? Spoiler: it’s not just about inviting AMD! Project Phasor’s goal is to accelerate progress in #neuromorphic research and engineering, especially where it intersects with #NeuroAI, and to remove friction for everyone. Project Phasor proposes 5 collaborative efforts. We outline the motivation for each one here in the comments. Stay tuned into the new year for potential hows and whos as well as ways you can help shape the direction of these efforts. Check the comments for the following: 1) WHY A JOINT RESEARCH FUND? 2) WHY A SHARED NEUROMORPHIC COMPILER FRAMEWORK? 3) WHY NEUROMORPHIC VIRTUAL MACHINES? 4) WHY SOLVE HETEROGENEOUS INTEGRATION? 5) WHY DATA CENTER SCALE TRAINING? A sneak peak regarding the HOW: Getting different accelerator companies working together on a compiler and associated VMs will be extremely difficult. Once we get critical mass though, sticking with a proprietary stack will become a huge anchor. Fast iteration, open development, and the broader community will win in the end. If you are a neuromorphic startup, it will behoove you to realize this earlier than anyone else. ;) I really enjoyed my time working on Chrome and its open development culture and hope to replicate the elements that made it so successful and inviting for other companies to adopt and contribute to. Open development goes way beyond just open source and I look forward to working with y’all! #projectphasor #ml #ai #mlir #compilers #stdp #opensource #opendevelopment #doge #robustai

The human brain is a marvel of natural engineering, inspiring the next generation of computer technology. 🧠💻 From deep learning to parallelism, it shows us how to efficiently process information. With its ability to perform tasks using the power of just a 20-watt light bulb, the brain teaches us the importance of low power solutions. Meanwhile, locality allows the same cells to both store and compute data, and memristors could one day help us replicate this in modern hardware. 🌐 As we explore neuromorphic computing, we aim to create machines that think, learn, and adapt like we do. Imagine computers that are not only smarter but also more energy-efficient and capable of solving complex problems faster. Could this be the future of technology? 🚀 The brain isn't just an inspiration—it’s a blueprint for revolutionizing the way we design computers. #ParallelComputing #Memristors #NeuromorphicEngineering #LowPowerTech #Locality #Innovation #ArtificialIntelligence #MachineLearning

Intel AI Processors at 100% Training #AI #Agents This is a view of what goes on under the hood at KYRE during an intense training session of an #Algorithmic #Trading system. This screenshot of the activity monitor on my Apple PowerBook shows all processors firing at full capacity running a high-performance computing application. Leveraging an advanced #MachineLearning methodology known as #ReinforcementLearning, this application is using every available electron of computing power to sift through stock data looking for #PredictiveSignals that can be composed into profitable trading strategies. This programming exercise demonstrates #DistributedComputing, which means that a large project is broken down into smaller tasks that are distributed to separate processors… fancy computer lingo for #Teamwork. #ArtificialIntelligence systems like this are designed to not only identify profitable trading strategies but to continually evolve and optimize them. Through millions of back-testing simulations, strategies are refined and optimized in a relentless quest for profit maximization and risk minimization. It’s a process that demands significant computational resources, as you can see, but the potential rewards are immense. If you want to go hunting in the foundational theory of this field, you will find good ideas in #FiniteMathematics. Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI in financial markets requires developing systems that learn and adapt to dynamic market conditions. https://kyre.ai 🚀 Exciting Times in AI-Driven Finance! 🚀

🧑💻🌐 Understanding the Binary System: The Language of Computers 🌐🕵️♂️ In the digital age, our world runs on 0s and 1s. But have you ever wondered how this binary system actually works? Let's break it down!🦾 🔢 What is the Binary System? The binary system is a base-2 numeral system. Unlike the decimal system (base-10) which uses ten digits (0-9), the binary system uses only two digits: 0 and 1. These two digits are the foundation of all computing processes. 💡 How Does It Work? Each binary digit (bit) represents an exponential value of 2. Here’s a quick example to illustrate how binary numbers translate to decimal numbers: Binary: 1011 Decimal Calculation: (1 × 2³) + (0 × 2²) + (1 × 2¹) + (1 × 2⁰) 8 + 0 + 2 + 1 = 11 So, the binary number 1011 equals 11 in decimal form. ⚙️ Why Binary? Computers use the binary system because it aligns perfectly with digital electronics. Transistors, the building blocks of modern processors, have two states: on (1) and off (0). This simple on/off mechanism is ideal for binary computation, enabling complex calculations and operations through simple logic. 🌍 Real-World Applications From processing your latest Instagram photo to driving complex algorithms in AI, binary is everywhere. Every piece of data, be it text, images, or videos, is ultimately broken down into binary code for computers to process and understand. 📈 Future Prospects As technology advances, the binary system remains a fundamental aspect of innovation. Understanding it not only provides insights into current technologies but also equips us with the knowledge to pioneer future advancements. 🔍 Interested in more about digital systems and technology trends? Let’s connect and explore together! 🚀 #BinarySystem #TechTalk #DigitalTransformation #Coding #Innovation #STEM

Quantum computing? Generative AI? Meanwhile, a bakery in Indianapolis is still using a Commodore 64 to take orders—yes, a computer released in 1982! Sometimes, technology doesn't need to be cutting-edge. If it "just works" for the user and gets the job done, it is the perfect tool. Not every problem demands the latest innovation. Sometimes reliability, simplicity, and familiarity win out. What are some examples you've seen where "old tech" is still thriving because it just works? #Innovation #technology #donuts #legacytech #hightech #commodore #computing

🚀 Operating large GPU clusters is no small feat! The intricacies of managing these powerful systems can often feel overwhelming, NVIDIA uses an observability agent framework with a swarm of AI Agents in an OODA(observation, orientation, decision, action) loop to achieve this. Here’s a breakdown of the complexities involved: - "Cooling Management": Maintaining optimal temperatures to prevent overheating in high-performance setups. - "Power Consumption": Efficiently managing power distribution to support heavy workloads while minimizing costs. - "Networking Logistics": Ensuring seamless data flow within expansive architectures. - "Telemetry Data Handling": Navigating vast amounts of telemetry data to streamline operations and enhance performance. By using a swarm-of-agents technique, they chained together a series of small, focused models and performed several interesting optimizations Consider reading the full article link below, particularly pay attention to lessons learned: - 🛑 Don’t jump to training/tuning - ✅ Choose the right model for the right job. Coding models work great as a base for human-to-SQL , smaller models work great for simpler domains and save money on tokens and larger models for the hardest tasks, often at the orchestrator-agent level where more context is required to understand the whole picture} - 👨🏻💻 Don’t fully automate without a human in the loop until you have strong evidence that the actions taken by the agentic system are accurate, useful, and safe #DataCenter #GPUComputing #AI #Telemetry #OperationalEfficiency #AISeriesBySachinAnumula Credits: Knowledge source https://lnkd.in/gE-f3A83 by Aaron Erickson
