This 4226m2 of mechanically polished high gloss concrete across Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s for Burwood Brickworks saw some fantastic results! Burwood Brickworks was the first of its kind as a retail centre that was part of the Living Building Challenge — the world’s most rigorous performance standard for building. ProGrind installed our proprietary Mechanical Polished Concrete system which resulted in only a 3% VOC content from start to finish in the process. This is a 50% reduction on what is permissible for the products allowable for the type of finish under this code. The project helped Burwood Brickworks achieve a 6-Star Green Star Design and As-Built rating as well as full certification (7 petals) under the Living Building Challenge (LBC) accreditation. The first retail development in the world to achieve this internationally recognised certification – meeting the requirements of net zero energy, waste, and water.
