Road Safety Week is coordinated annually by Brake and involves hundreds of schools, organisations and communities each year. Brake is a road safety charity that works to prevent road death and injury, make streets and communities safer, and supports the victims of road crashes. The theme of Road Safety Week 2024 is "Be a road safety hero", recognising everyone who helps to make our roads safer and support people after a crash, and explaining how we can all play a part in making journeys safer for everyone. No doubt our drivers play the biggest part in helping to keep our roads safer, while sometimes being the first on the scene of an accident or coming to the aid of a fellow motorist in need. #RoadSafetyWeek2024 #Transport #Logistics

As part of Brake, the road safety charity Road Safety Week, we also want to focus on how we can protect vulnerable road users and the need to ensure everyone is aware of the role they need to play in making our roads safer. Our toolbox talk focuses on helping the safety of both construction workers and the surrounding community. We want to ensure that everyone remains safe in and around construction zones. Toolbox talks are important to building a strong safety culture and reinforcing a company’s commitment to protecting their workers and the wider communities affected by the construction activity, and also help educate and inform the workforce on important topics and ensure they are supporting the company’s efforts and activities. A recently-upgraded historic footpath along the River Worth has been launched, following funding from #KeighleyTownsFund and Keighley Big Local. Local environment charity the Aire River Trust, used the £56,312 grant from the Towns Fund, and £20,000 of funding from Big Local to resurface the Worth Way Walk. The 11-mile national trail connects Low Mill Lane to Woodhouse Road along the river through Keighley to Oxenhope. The resurfacing of the path and the addition of new signage is part of a series of improvements designed to encourage more people to explore Keighley’s rivers and provide safe, green travel routes through the town. The project included volunteers from Aire Rivers Trust and the River Worth Friends cutting back overgrowth and undertaking litter clearance before work could even start on tarmac-ing the new path. New ‘River Worth’ signage has been installed on river bridges through Keighley, as well as three cast-iron way marking signs, all designed and produced in the Keighley area. There is a new River Worth information board on platform two of Keighley Station, and a walking guide available from a QR code on the information board or from Aire Rivers Trust website. The introduction of Transport for London's Direct Vision Standard has seen a 75% reduction in fatal collisions where vision was a contributing factor. This statistic emphasises how important it is for commercial fleets to follow industry-standard compliances in driving us toward Vision Zero. As Road Safety Week is campaigning to raise awareness for the 1,683 victims of crashes on our roads each year, it is vital to invest in leading compliances to help reduce this shocking total. VisionTrack are proud offer bespoke kits that meet CLOCS, DVS, and FORS regulations and urge commercial fleets to protect their drivers and other vulnerable road users.
