The European Commission has awarded the first Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (#STEP) Seal to 130 high-quality projects, recognising their contributions to advancing Europe’s strategic priorities. Hydrogen-related projects featured prominently, with 39 initiatives receiving the STEP Seal, reflecting the growing importance of #hydrogen in Europe’s clean #energytransition. More than two-thirds of these hydrogen projects secured EU funding under the #InnovationFund Call 2023, while the STEP Seal will support the remaining projects in attracting additional #funding. These projects span diverse fields, including #ammonia and e-methanol production, #renewablehydrogen production, and SMR + #CCUS hydrogen production. With 19 hydrogen projects involving #H2Europe members, the STEP Seal highlights the organisation's strong presence in the sector. This label provides enhanced visibility, access to advisory services, and connections to funding opportunities, helping projects deliver transformative solutions for Europe’s #netzero goals. 🟢🔵 Now is the time to anchor Europe’s Green Hydrogen Future!   We advocate for robust resilience criteria in the upcoming auction rounds of the European Hydrogen Bank and other public funding instruments. 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 and the Hydrogen Bank auction by the European Commission is an excellent financial instrument to accelerate the introduction of RFNBO hydrogen. The European industry has been investing for decades in developing green hydrogen technologies, and players such as Agfa have been able to develop innovative world-class products, benefiting from regional (Flemish), national (Belgian), and European funding (Horizon, Innovation Fund). 𝐀 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 capacities has begun. The time is now for Europe to support and enhance its manufacturing capacity of electrolyser technologies at a large scale to ensure strategic autonomy, efficiency, and continued innovation. How can this be achieved? 👉 The European Commission should enforce resilience and pre-qualification criteria for core electrolysis production processes. We argue that, in order to qualify for Hydrogen Bank funding, electrolyser assembly has to happen within Europe. In addition, strategic electrolyser components, such as membranes and electrodes, should be sourced within Europe as these are critical for safe and efficient operation. A grant of €29.5m from the EU Innovation Fund has been provided to Plagazi. The purpose of this grant, was to hep the company accomplish the task of scaling the flagship waste-to-hydrogen production project, which is currently under development. Yesterday, I attended #ADSW and the Green Hydrogen Summit, where key topics were discussed: - Expected growth of the Green Hydrogen Economy - Current challenges in transportation - Possibilities of using existing NG infrastructure - Cost economies - Concepts of hubs and valleys - Technology transfers between developed and developing countries - How #MENA is positioned to harness green hydrogen - The importance of inclusive and cohesive roadmaps and regulations for global penetration of #Greenhydrogen The sessions were highly informative and shed light on crucial aspects of the green hydrogen industry.

Today, I’m honoured and thankful to the Members of Hydrogen Europe Research for being re-elected to the Executive Board as the Chair for Mobility, an area where we still have significant challenges to attend to and targets to reach. Hydrogen Europe Research (HER) truly represents the European Research Community in Europe through the Association’s 150+ Members, and is one of the Owners of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. It has been a pleasure to be involved from the HER Association was founded in March 2008, and since then it has not only represented the Research Community but also contributed to shaping the European Research Area and facilitating the implementation of hydrogen technologies in multiple sectors. #Hydrogen will play a pivotal role in decarbonising the transport sector. As supplement to battery electric propulsion, hydrogen and its carriers will be the most adequate and best suited fuels for larger vehicles/vessels on longer range/missions. An example were this will be demonstrated, is the SINTEF-coordinated H2Accelerate TRUCKS project. With this, SINTEF is consolidating our strategic engagement and commitment to foster a global leading hydrogen industry in Europe, underpinning SINTEF's scientific contribution to development and implementation of hydrogen technologies.
