As Dáithí’s dad, I know firsthand how vital these conversations are. Dáithí has been waiting for a heart transplant for over six years, and it’s these conversations that could make all the difference for families like mine. This coming Wednesday, I’m calling on businesses, organisations, and charities to get involved in the simplest way: give your team an extra 5-10 minutes during their coffee break and encourage them to have conversations about organ donation. Whether it’s sharing their decision with a colleague, or feeling inspired to go home and talk to their family, these moments can spark change. There’s very little organisation involved—just give them the time and the inspiration. Remind your team that while it’s their loved ones who will have the final say on organ donation, talking about it now provides clarity when it matters most. You never know, that extra 5 minutes could lead to a conversation that saves a life.
