Ever wonder what is Boxing Day and how did this holiday tradition originated? 🎁 Observed on December 26th, Boxing Day has its roots in Victorian England. Aristocratic families would collect boxes and distribute them to the less fortunate after Christmas Day festivities. The boxes contained small gifts, money, or leftover food and were an expression of gratitude and charity. While the exact origin is unclear, some believe it began when Queen Victoria was on the throne in the 1800s. Does your family do anything special to observe the day after Christmas? We'd love to hear some of your traditions around this lesser-known holiday! 📦

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆? 🎁 The name Boxing Day doesn’t come from throwing punches – it actually started as a day of giving. Back in the 19th century, wealthy families in Britain would box up gifts, leftovers, and donations for their staff and those in need. Churches also collected money in alms boxes and distributed them the day after Christmas. 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, 𝑩𝒐𝒙𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕, 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 – 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒆, 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚. Personal takeaway? As I reflect on this, I realize the importance of not just boxing up gifts but 𝐛𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, and support for those around me. Whether it’s 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, giving back is how I show up daily. Bet you’ve never heard of this extreme sport! And it has so many fans that they opened a world championship. Extreme Ironing has been a Thing since the eighties, but took off as an official sport in the last 27 years. Let me tell you about the 2002 championship. There were 5 rounds and all 12 (12!!!) teams from across the globe took part in each round. 🚙 Round 1: iron around, inside, or on top of a broken car. Perfectly normal, right? 🌊 Round 2: Iron while standing in the middle of a flowing river. (No, I don’t know how you plug in an iron while standing in a river.) 🌳 Round 3: Climb up a tree (with your ironing board, of course) and do some ironing. 💪 Round 4: Climb a wall and iron there. 🤔 Round 5: Iron freestyle, wherever you want. For your information, the German team won that year. But that’s nothing. People have been schlepping their ironing boards up mountains and ironing there too (see picture). And if Extreme Ironing sounds like your kind of thing, why not raise money while you do it? The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales—within 24 hours. Oh, by the way, you’ll need to carry your ironing board with you. Not for me. Today, December 26, is Boxing Day This is a public holiday in many countries with historical ties to the British Empire, including the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Name Origin: Charity Tradition: The term "Boxing Day" likely comes from the practice of giving boxes of gifts or money to servants, tradespeople, and the poor. In wealthy households, servants would work on Christmas Day to prepare for their employers' festivities and were allowed the following day off to celebrate with their own families. Church Connection: Another theory ties the name to alms boxes in churches, which were opened on December 26 to distribute donations to the needy. Modern Celebrations: It has evolved into a day of shopping (akin to Black Friday in the U.S.), sports events, and family gatherings. In some countries, it retains a charitable aspect, with donations or volunteering. #AmiablelanguageServices #teachinglanguages #boxingday #traditions #celebrations

In the world of boxing, strategy is everything. Each punch thrown is a calculated move, much like a game of chess. The ultimate goal is not just to strike but to outthink your opponent and deliver that final, decisive blow—checkmate. As we prepare for the upcoming BBFC Charity fight, this philosophy rings true. It’s about quiet preparation, relentless training, and the power of focus. Victory isn’t just about brute strength, but timing, patience, and precision. Stay tuned. The time to say checkmate is fast approaching. 🥊👊 #BBFC #BusinessBoxing #MoveInSilence #Checkmate #BoxingStrategy #CharityFight #MindOverMatter #StayFocused
